gotta question for you all... how does marijuana work? i'm assuming the high is from neurotransmitters, but does anyone know how exactly it works?
i'm dying to take a psychopharmacology class, but it doesnt fit in my schedule so i'm gonna pick all your brains instead... i havent been able to find anything online on the actual way THC makes you high, am i looking in the wrong place?
knowledge is power, and i'm curious... plus, i'd love to know why maryjane does more for my depression than any "real" med they've ever given me.
thanks in advance and best wishes, haley

The effects of cannabinoids on the brain

Pubmed search for "the effects of cannabinoids on the brain". I was able to get this search because I found the above article through Google.

As you know THC is a cannibinoid.  We as animals for some reason have a particular receptor just for cannibinoids, along with the rest of the receptors.  The cannabinoids then interact (unknown how) causing the brain to release other neurological substances causing the "euphoria" and whatever else you want to experience.  It is amazing to me that the brain has specific receptors for certain plants like cannabis, salvia, and opiates.

and opiates.

Well, you probably know what endorphins are. Opiates made by human body. Poppy flowers don't have a monopoly for synthesizing opiate receptor agonists ;-)
