A very troubling thing seems to have happened. I think I've gone allergic to my clonazepam (as a secondary reponse to my super-allergic reaction to Lamictal). I get itchiness and rhinitis that's pretty well correlated in onset with the timing of my Klonopin dose. E.g. if I hold off on the bulk of the dose until night, I don't itch until soon after I take it. It's manageable, but can get pretty annoying, especially as it interferes with my sleep breathing.
I really can't do a dose reduction from where I'm at; at least in a size that's monitorable (1/8 of an mg). I would like to switch to Valium, either as an alternative or to do a slower taper. I realize that all benzos warn against cross-sensitivity to others in the PI sheet (i.e. don't take this if you've ever had an allergic reaction to other benzos).
But, I'm wondering if anyone has been allergic to one and not to others. Or whether anyone knows of any studies indictating similar.
Thanks,

DX: Anxiety spectrum stuff (GAD, SP), Questionable BP NOS due to increased anxiety from most ADs
Current meds: Valium 15 mg/day; Magnesium 800 mg/day; 2.5 mg Prozac every other day
Rejected by my body: Lithium (kidneys), Tegretol (liver, allergy); Lamictal (allergy); verapamil (allergy)
Don't work/play so well with me: In terms of ADs: Wellbutrin monotherapy, Serzone, Serzone+Buspar and (worst of all) Cymbalta all made agitation/anxiety worse. Lexapro left me feeling a little shakey and out of it. In terms of mood-stabilizer-esque meds: Keppra, Campral (dulling, depression), Trileptal (same + probably allergic), AAPs (strong akathisia even at 2.5 mg Zyprexa or 50 mg Seroquel), Topomax (allergic? kidneys sure didn't like it) and really Depakote sucks balls too (dulling with agitation and anxiety).

If you're taking the name brand stuff you might want to try taking the generic or vice versa ( or the wafers) in case it's an inactive ingredient you're reacting to.
De-gnosis: ADD, recurrent depression (or maybe bpII in the guise of such), Asperger's, OCD, social anxiety
Today's Pill Menu: Dexedrine, Wellbutrin (Budeprion), Topamax, Risperdal, clonazepam
