Some time ago, this offer was only available to people who take Lamictal for epilepsy (so I only posted it in the Ep forum). Now it's apparently open to people taking Lamictal for Bipolar I. :D You have to sign up for some (seemingly) dumb "STAY ON TRACK" program but it might be worth it just to save some money. Crazymeds are expensive.

Anyway, go here: http://www.lamictal....aving_offer.jsp

And you might read the eligibility requirements here: http://www.lamictal....ligiblilty.html

???

I should hardly think so. I mean, $10 a month for six months, that's like a couple extra happy meals...I got a much better deal when i had NO job, NO insurance...big bottles of pretty blue pills in the mail, all free...

I'm also grumpy because I don't have an offical BPI Dx, so no money-saving for me! What about us "antidepressant sensitive" people who look to Lamictal as the last hope before old school drugs and ECT? :brooding:

My neurologist gave me a mail-in form when I had an appointment a few months ago. It said nothing about it being only for epilepsy - but it didn't mention bipolar either. But being the clown I am I filled it out anyway and sent it in. I got my coupons a few weeks later, and then afterward I read on CM it was only for epilepsy. I just said, "Ooops!" and shrugged as I took them on my way to the pharmacy... ;)

I was just prescribed lamictil for bpd . The doc said it is about to go generic here in us, so that is good news

it IS generic in the us ... if you don't mind taking a bunch of 25 mg. chewable tablets instead of just one or two tablets for your daily dosing. it's a hell of a lot cheaper for me with my sometime bass ackward prescription rider. it saves me $40 a month to take a handful of the 25 mg. teva lamotrigine tablets rather than one gsk lamictal tablet. worth it for me.
dx: bipolar II, bpd, add
rx: 200 mg. lamictal, 30 mg. dexedrine, 40 mg. celexa, 5 mg. abilify, klonopin (prn), slurroquel or ambien prn. not both at the same time dumbass ... one or the other.

I'll be nicer when you're smarter.

so glad to hear that. if it works for me then it won't be so expensive. I was given a starter package, the Orange one, 25 mg tabs. they have me starting at 50 mg a day ( 25 bid) , think for 2 weeks and then going up to 50 bid. That starter kit dosing is a lot faster than I've seen recommend on these boards ( ie, the people who take it say their docs start them at much lower doses)
not sure if it's me or whatever, but the links in the first post tell me no page exists.

Sweet! I filled out the questionnaire, and sent a separate thank you note for actually caring enough to ask what their consumers care about. It would be nice if more companies did that. The vast majority of us are lifetime legal drug-users, and it would be nice if the companies supplying those drugs actually cared as much about the people they were treating and what they wanted out of the drugs as making money off of them...

Dx: Bipolar I (08/20/08), OCD (09/15/08)

Prev Rx: Abilify (akathisia / suicidal ADHD), Geodon (made me pass out at 40mg, had to take 5 times a day at 20mg), Seroquel (made me gain weight)

I'm on lamictil again and this time the doc gave me a card that will allow me to get up to $25 off each script for brand name . I used it this time. So for 6 months I can use the brand name for $20 month. My insurance company puts brand lamictil in tier 3 and the copay is $45. That is costly , especially if you take a lot of meds.

Since I'm on COBRA coverage right now, I was worried about being unable to get my Lamotrigine when I get a job. The cost for 30 200mg tablets was going to run me $200 at the local drug store chain. My pdoc told me to try out the Costco pharmacy. I was told that a prescription with them would only cost around $14. They balance the medication cost by boosting the price of TP or jeans apparently.

Even my $60 Metformin (diabetes II) only costs $6.

If you need cheaper medication, try your local Costco/Wal-mart/Sam's Club and see if they can give you a better price.

(Nuts. I'm advertising, aren't I? Sorry about that.)
Diagnoses: Bipolar Spectrum Disorder (informally known as Bipolar IV) and type two Diabetes.
Past history: Dysthymia, Major Depression.
Current Meds: Lamictal (200mg), Rx Vitamin D (50,000 IU), Fish Oil (1200mg), and lots of others for the Diabetes.
Past Meds that I will never, ever, ever take again: Sertraline/Zoloft, Citalopram/Celexa, Venlafaxine/Effexor, and Seroquel.
Medication that my pdoc thinks should work with my Lamictal, but doesn't: Seroquel. (See the above list.)

You guys have heard of Patient Assistance Programs that pharmaceutical companies offer, right? Look them up on the internet, they have saved my life! If you meet their income guidelines, you can get you meds for free! I get Lamictal for free-go on the GlaxoSmithKline webstie and check out their programs.
