I have never responded to any sight before, but yours truly touched me. My father took his own life suddenly and cruely. Since I have been put on everything under the sun. I am trying Pristiq (at day 7) and I just feel tired and frustrated. I have read others and they say stick with it for 1,2,3 months! I have two small kids and I have to be able to function. I have been on a roller coaster since he died a couple of years ago and I just want some peace. My family has suffered enough. Don't know what to do?

Wow, cariple, your story sounds like mine. I'm 30 and on Pristiq. I also have two small children and my father took his own life two years ago in a very cruel way. I'd love to chat with you somehow.. I tried registering to this site a few days ago, but the verification code wasn't showing up. I'll try again. Maybe you could too so we can PM each other? I know the rollercoaster that you speak of all too well. I've been on Pristiq for a little over a month and it's helping to make me feel much more normal. The side effects for me weren't all that bad...mainly fatigue in the first couple of weeks, but well worth the time that I've put into it. I'd recently lost my job (laid off) and basically lost the only way I'd known of how to cope with his death...with all the time at home, my depression caught up with me. But not on the Pristiq, I have my fight back and have been able to interview and apply for jobs that would have intimidated me during the most depressed phases.

Again, I'd love to chat with you somehow. I'm going to attempt to register again.

I love reading these boards....

I have been on Zoloft for over 3 years. Somewhere between 50 and 200 MG. Everytime I tried to ween off, as soon as I got below 50, I felt Crazy!! So, my doctor just switched me too 50 MG Pristig from 200 mg Zoloft. I have a slow ween plan off the Zoloft, and started Pistiq 3 days ago. I don't feel much different, other than occasional nausau, and contact diarreah. I am scared to gain weight, since its my weight that has caused my anxiety, and caused me to go on any drugs. Any advise? I think I am reading way too much about this, because at first, it seemed like ppl were losing weight. Now, I see lotys of ppl gaining weight. HELP!???

I took Effexor XR for a year, it helped with my anxiety some, but the side effects i had were not worth it.
switched to Pristiq, the transition between the 2 was easy on me. just had like 3 bad days, mostly the spins and my skin felt like i had the flu.
but, although the side-effects were different, the low energy feeling was the big one i've experienced. well that & after a trip to the eye doctor. i currently have pressure in my right eye.
so as of today, i switched again :/ this time to Prozac. the last thing i want is for my eyes to die on me...

i'll be curious what withdrawals will feel as the meds switch over. and how i'll react to the new stuff. fun times! :/

I am an almost 40 year-old. I started my first dosage of Pristiq (50 mg) last night around 5:30. I started feeling a bit spacey and nauseous. Last night I fell asleep pretty early, around 8:30 and then woke up around midnight and couldn't fall back to sleep for about 4 hours. I was also hot, despite it being 36 degrees outside and we had the heat on at around 67. I tossed and turned a lot. I felt quite fidgety. Today I still feel nauseous, very mellow and relaxed, but not lethagic. I have tried other AD's in the past: Lexapro, Paxcil CR and Effexor, all with horrible side effects. So after those I pretty much gave up on the meds. I have depression and anxiety and both are destroying my marriage. I also lost my mother three years ago from brain cancer and my father literally dropped dead on me from heart disease with no warning at all in Oct. 08. Dealing with both of their deaths has made my anxiety worse and I think I've probably always had some depression but their losses made it worse. An aquaintance recommended the Pristiq and decided to give it a shot. I think I will stick this one out. I am hoping it will help me control my anger, anxiety and help me to deal with some of my grief. Good luck to all!

I started Pristiq 17 days ago for Anxiety. I have tried a few other AD's with no luck due to side affects, either too tired or too shaky. Since I started Pristiq I have been sleepy, no energy but shaky and more anxious. I feel really out of it and not myself. I'm trying to just get though another 2 weeks of this and hopefully I will feel better. All the other AD's I've taken (Lexapro, Effexor, Zoloft, etc..) have had almost the same side effects. I can barely leave my house, I just go to work and then home. I feel like I could have a panic attack all the time!
So maybe it make you feel worse before it gets better? Does anyone have any advice? Or has anyone experienced these side effects?

I take Ativan when I really need it, .5-1mg a day. Which helps.
Thank You!

I take Pristiq for migraines. I recently increased my dosage from 50mg to 100mg about 2-3 weeks ago. I only recently started feeling some of the side effects, same ones that occurred when I first started on these meds. My mom also suffers from migraines and has been on similar medications, and told me that when you increase the dosage it may take your body a couple of weeks to actually feel the effects. So in my opinion, the delay you're experiencing is normal. But you should always check with your doctor about these things, especially if your panic attacks are increasing. What's normal for one person might not be for another. Not something you really want to take your chances with.

Hope things get better for you. :-)

I'm also taking Pristiq for migraines. How is it working for you? I've only been on the medication for 7 days. I've lost my appetite completely. I wasn't able to drive the first couple of days because I felt lightheaded. And I'm sleeping about 10 hours a night.

Anybody else out there taking this Pristiq for migraines?

Lisa

Hi everyone. Thank u all sooo much for the wealth of information you have given on pristiq. My sis inlaw is on it and swears by it. She has had no side affects, lost excess weight and her anxiety has stopped. She cant stop bragging about it!

I am a severe migraine suffer, as well as severe panic attacks when they do happen and some depression. I am wondering if anybody has been on Pristiq for migraine management. I have been allergic to the other migraine preventers my neourologist have given me.

If anyone else is on this for migraine management I will love to hear about your experiences.
Blessings
Pauline
