Dropped both my 25mg of Topamax and I believe the last Keppra dose I was taking was 250mg, at the same time two weeks ago when I found out that my insurance had run out and it wasn't going to pay for any more meds until next January. Just to see if I *could*, since the Topamax is for not!-migraines and the Keppra's just a broad spectrum anti-cootie thing - never had anything worse than the mildest of simple partial seizures, and my mom's response to the no insurance thing was "Well, maybe you should just stop taking them, then!" (this also includes my ADHD med and my puffer - and she has asthma too!). Like...wow. Someone Just Doesn't Get It. It's not like we're talking about a coke habit or anything - these are hardly recreational.

Figured I could see how long until I felt the headaches start to come on again, and at least save a few pills that way. Things were ok for a little more than a week. 250mg is a dose of Keppra that I know doesn't screw me up and make me feel stoned if I forget it, and I can go off it for a few weeks if I don't mind random cooties without being stoned going off, or going back on that dose.

Then the intermittent vertigo started last saturday or so. It's "on" more often than "off", but I do get some pretty much complete breaks, and at worst, it's still not as bad as when I had that inner ear infection seven years ago, or that stuff for a few weeks after the antibiotics screwed up my balance about four and a half years ago, and it's not affecting my hearing at all like the infection did. I started taking the Keppra again, even though it's not the same stoned feeling as the standard "wrong amount of Keppra" alert message, not at the same time every day since I've been working days and nights, seemed to help at first but it doesn't have a lasting effect. Took a Topamax this morning and may have taken another one on a different day, but right now the vertigo is "on". Have gone off the Topamax while on the Keppra for a month or so before with no problems other than the headaches started to come back. So I don't know what drug it is. Or if it's just a freakish coincidence.

Maybe I just have to wait it out. Might be safer to do so *on* the meds. Given my years-old post above, I really should have known better.

Thanks for your posts on this topic. I've decided to stop my Trileptal, been on it for nearly 2 weeks. I'm currently on 900mg ( med sensitive ). Anyone have exp with tapering? And what SE to expect?

I went away on holiay, and i left my meds behind (epilim, lamictam and seroquel). So went cold turky! I have never felt so dreadfull, was jittery and shaky and all over the place, after 8 days of sleep, i started vomitting in the middel of ward rounds and could barely stand up straight. I don't know if its with drawl or iff its just cause i didn't take it. But i could barely stand and just vomitting! had to leave work and got booked off for a week, but dont know if its withdrawl. I caan't even get my words out right, stuttering ect..
