I did a search, and noticed at least one person (A.M.) was on this combination at one point. Currently, I am getting too much antidepressant effect from my combination, which is making my vagina sandy, as Herr(I forget his new name, I haven't been keeping up with the Boards. I was always more of a lurk than anything up until lately) would say. This vaginal sandiness is causing me a lot of trouble, getting me in a lot of trouble, and I want to douche pretty badly.

I am wondering how many other people have used this combination for mood control. On friday I learned I know more about whats going on with me than my doctor does, so I figure I should handhold him and aim for the effects I want + avoid the side effects I don't want. I wanted to go inpatient, do a complete detox, and start from new once they see what I'm like in my default state, but that doesnt sound like its gonna happen (my GP said she has never heard of it happening). So I'll have to settle for the slow, arduous route.

I want to keep the lamictal, because I know its having an antidepressant effect on me, and maybe too much in combination with the zoloft and geodon. I feel like I'm just under hypomanic almost every day, its that bad. I also have blown out pupils like I'm back on ecstasy(and unless geodon + zoloft = MDMA, I am not!), but thats more of a comment for a thread i vaguely remember reading i the AP board. For those of you who haven't experienced that, imagine that episode of the simpsons where homer licks frogs to hallucinate. Yeah, like that.

ANYWAY back on point. Lithium and Lamictal. experiences. comment.
Current medication: 900mg lithium, 100mg quetiapine, 1.5mg clonazepam, 100mg lamotrigine, 1mg haloperidol

I was recently put on lithium in addition to lamictal (long-standing) to control the mood swings. Even tho it was a low dose (600 mg), it worked for me. Evened me out in a beautiful way, I felt great. HOWEVER, it also instantly whacked all creative urges, and I'm an artist, and that's unacceptable. So, I'm giving it up. Rapidly. But if you're not a heavily-creative type person, it might work well for you. Good luck.
dx - BP, OCD and BPD, oh yeah, and some GAD as well
rx - abilify 30mg, lamictal 200mg, geodon 120mg, klonopin 1.5mg prn, and various vitamins

Lamictal and lithium helped a bit, but I really needed Seroquel on top of those two to get better.
dx: bipolar NOS, rapid cycling
rx: lamotrigine 300 mg, lithium 750 mg, Seroquel 150 mg, lorazepam PRN

I'm on both. A lot of lamictal though so it doesn't really have as much of a mood stabilizer affect on me. I love the lithium and it doesn't mix poorly with the lamictal. I agree, the lamictal (at a low dose) has a great anti-depressant affect so using it with lithium would be ideal. Lamictal is great with not a lot of harmful side effects. There is the rash but it is rare. I think the vaginal sandiness sounds AWFUL so def ask about lithium. Lithium is a really good drug for mood and depression.

I'm not bipolar, but I'm on lithium and lamictal. Lithium has helped a little bit, but not very much. I'm actually shocked about how few side effects lithium has once you get used to your dosage (at least for me). It's been a much better drug for me than say, Abilify. Lithium has it's downside, but I'll take a tremor and having to go to the bathroom all the time over yelling at people for no reason and having panic attacks.

Oh yeah - my blood level is probably around 0.8 and the only weight I have gained is a few pounds of water. I may be an anomaly because every drug I've been on has been weight neutral or weight negative. But not everybody gains weight on lithium.
Dx: MDD, history of anorexia and bulimia
Rx: Effexor 300mg, Trazodone 100 mg
Past Rx:
SSRIs: Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro
SNRIs: Effexor, Cymbalta
other ADs: Serzone, Wellbutrin, Remeron
MAOIs: Parnate, Nardil
Mood Stabilizers: Abilify, Lithium, Lamictal
Other: Cytomel, several sleep meds

Hi

I was started on Lithium to add to Lamictal (started in 2004) in Jan 09. Lithium, like Lamictal did originally, kicked my depression's arse.

I have to say that I am more likely to get a bit dryer down there than before, but I never linked it to Li. It may well have started then as it is unusual for me and also odd as I have a very high libido. Anyway, I was fine down there with Lamictal alone.

Lithium - well, it may have been responsible for my weight gain or it may have been simply that feeling better for several months (praise the gods of science) made me eat more. I am trying to be as evidence-based about this as possible since it's been such a great drug to me and I could hardly eat toast and a tomato for dinner when I was in the mixed state Lithium destroyed.

I have a mild tremor occasionally but that is NOTHING compared to no quality of life etc etc. LIke someone else said, it is surprisingly low of s/effects.
Dx: Bipolar I

Treatment : Seroquel 50mg, Lithium 1000mg, Lamotrigine 400mg, Diazepam prn

In regards to this combination, is it typical to need less Lithium if you've added Lamictal?

I haven't heard of either affecting each other's excretion rate or anything else. I know Carbamazepine and Valproate tend to do some enzymey thing with several meds, but not this combo.
This would flash up with a big red mark on my GPs computer screen and it didn't :)
