I am having knee surgery within the next couple of months and I am wondering if I am going to be able to take something decent for the pain I will have?

I am currently taking 20mg Lexapro, Wellbutrin 150XL and 1 mg ativan when needed.

Has anyone had surguries while on their meds?

Thanks!
Jen

I have disk problems in my neck and often get radiating pain down into my arms. I take Wellbutrin and klonopin. I have taken ibuprofen and Tramadol during the day and have taken vicodin at night before bed. I would NOT take an opiate during the day especially if you must drive or function in the real world. It all depends on how your body metabolizes things. Discuss it with your doctor as your surgery approaches.

GAD - Chronic Depression - Prolly a little OCD but I could just be a lazy slob that hates to throw shit away!
clonazepam .5 mg, still working after all these years...
Prozac - Celexa - Effexor - Not so much
Wellbutrin: 150, 200 SR 300 XL - currently working for the most part.

Don't worry, being crazy doesn't mean surgery without painkillers. :P

Your doctor has a wide selection of pain meds and can tell you which are appropriate for you.

Good luck! a.m.

p.s. BYOB. Bring your own bullet to bite on. They are low stocked these days. LoL

Well, having surgery and taking things for chronic pain are two different issues.

After my surgery I couldn't work or drive for a month and a half, so a bit of cognitive impairment was not a huge deal.

I DO take pain meds on a constant basis, though. I take Ultram and Vicodin.

I take the them both during my normal fuctioning hours (200mgs ultram er and 5/500mgs vicodin 4-6 times a day). I have to and have no probs. I am also on Lamictial, Topamax, Wellbutrin, Klonopin, and a few other things for other conditions.

Your doctor will liet you know what you can and cannot do.
