I'm currently on 2mg of Adivan because 1mg no longer works for me. When 2mg stops what would the doctors do, put me on something else? If I'm put on something else for a while, how long would it take for the Adivan to start working again?
Bipolar II mixed state, Dysthymia, Social Phobia.

Theoretically, they could up the dose further; there are people out there who take 6mg/day. But the typical treatment for your symptoms does not usually involve heavy doses of benzodiazepines (ie: Ativan/lorazepam). I suspect they'd trial you on a mood stabilizer (ie: lithium, sodium valproate, lamictal, carbamazepine), and/or an antidepressant and/or an antipsychotic.
