Am I the only who noticed that an ad for anti-psychiatric Scientology propaganda("Making a Killing") is appearing above the status updates? I just find that pretty amusing, considering the orientation of this site. It's like advertising abortions on a religious forum. Heh. Whatever pays the bills, but I got a kick out of it.

Blog post/article about said film: http://pharmamkting....deo-blasts.html

Sorry; this isn't a suggestion per se, but rather something to point attention to, given that a user was recently banned for posting similar(and less inflammatory) rhetoric to what appears in the ad.

I too noticed that ad. I just assumed that there was no control over what kind of advertisements are displayed on this site. I know that when I make posts, the keywords from the post bring up interesting and often, shall we say, counterproductive links. I figured that everyone who doesn't agree can choose to put up with, or ignore such opposing views. You can also choose to eject them by force or to cover them up however. Whatever floats your boat.

Well, it doesn't bother me that much(actually, I found it funny) and I suspect that there is indeed little control over the content, but I still thought it might be worth mentioning because it explicitly goes against the site rules for posting. I imagine it might piss off some people, but as you said, what everyone else wants to do about it is their business. But still, it might be something an admin would want to look into, on the off chance that there is anything that can actually be done about it.

I haven't seen that one. I have seen a dianetics ad though. I just think it's funny that they waste their money advertising on sites where everyone is 100% opposed to their POV.

And yeah, I have little control over ad content.

De-gnosis: ADD, recurrent depression (or maybe bpII in the guise of such), Asperger's, OCD, social anxiety
Today's Pill Menu: Dexedrine, Wellbutrin (Budeprion), Topamax, Risperdal, clonazepam

I think the administrator of the ad content can block certain subjects and ads. Just because scientology uses psychiatric keywords doesn't mean that they have anything remotely useful to say about psychiatry. I'm sure there's a way to block them.
DX: I've never been given an actual DX by any doctor I've seen, however I'm 100% certain to have some form of bipolar (depression, frequent mixed episodes, infrequent hypomania and mania only when on antidepressants), multiple forms of anxiety, PMDD and lately I'm questioning the possibility of BPD due to my "I hate you, don't leave me" behavior even while otherwise fairly stable on meds.

Meds: Lithium 1200mg, Trazodone (god's gift to the sleep impoverished), clonazepam as needed, birth control pills for PMDD (but they don't help).

It's a pain in the ass and I'm more than happy to take their money. I have no desire to block them since I'd get an ad of lessor value in its place.

Well then, carry on :)
