Do you like the sedation that the seroquel gives you. I personally find it bothersome. I absolutely hate the feeling. The problem for me is that if I don't take it I can't end up falling asleep.

I take Seroquel XR, so I find that it doesn't make me as tired as regular Seroquel, but I do like when it does make me tired so I can go to bed at a decent time. I need my sleep.

I wish I did, wish it made me really relaxed. Instead I feel squelched, sat upon. I least I used to- doesn't seem to be doing anything anymore. Still I feel I need to take it to sleep, and I probably do.

Dx: Major Depression, Anxiety, Alcoholism (recovering)
Rx: Celexa 30mg, Seroquel 300mg, Ambien prn

I am physically dependent on Seroquel to sleep, so I like the sedation it gives me in that I need it to sleep, but otherwise - no. I am on a lowered dose of Seroquel and another AAP so that I don't have to take the higher dose and be as sedated as it was for me at 800mg. I know lower dosages are supposed to be more sedating, but I had real problems at 800mg.
Dx: Bipolar Affective Disorder, Manic with Psychotic Features
Current meds: Invega 6mg, Lamotrigine 150mg, Lyrica (Pregabalin) 100mg 3X/day, Seroquel 300mg

I don't really get that sedated on Seroquel. It just quiets down the irritability/racing thoughts that I get.
Dx: Borderline Personality Disorder, Complex Trauma, Recurrent Depression

I took it for a few weeks specifically for the sedation. It knocked me out at night at a very low dose (25 mg). Problem was it left me with a hangover/mental confusion feeling in the morning.

Music05, you might find that other drugs can help. I don't know how much you want to be playing with meds--whether "good enough" is good enough for now. But I switched out to risperdal because I didn't like the hangover effect/mental confusion from seroquel and did much better on rispderal.

I've gone off it for now because I can fall asleep on my own...or w/ a benadryl or extra ativan. but it was great when I needed it. I know you're taking it for the anti-psychotic effects too, so I'm not sure how it compares on that stuff. But it might be worth considering.
probably bipolar NOS. possibly adjustment disorder w/ mixed mood and anxiety components or MDD w/ anxiety. still a dx in progress, I guess. Some trauma elements.

current RXs: Effexor (150 mg), Ativan (0.5 mg daily; lorazepam), Lamictal (250 mg; lamotrigine); Halcion (triazolam); levothyroxine (75 mcg) and
birth control.

Past Rxs: zoloft (like a sugar pill); lexapro (hit an anxiety/akathesia problem); wellbutrin; seroquel; ambien; risperdal

Sometimes. The sedation helps the sleep. But the sedation sucks when you wake up from sleep, and a few hours after.

Interesting how nobody hates the sedation.
