Ativan, I hear is fast acting but doesn't last very long. Klonopin might take longer to kick in but lasts much longer. Other than those two, I don't know.

Xanax and Ativan are the ones that kick in the fastest, however, anxiety is only relieved for a short period of time.
I was on klonopin, then p-doc switched me to Ativan, which I really liked at first because it worked so quickly, but it never worked for very long and I'd have anxiety spikes repeatedly throughout the day.
Now I'm on klonopin 3x per day at .5mg, and that works WAY better than Ativan 3x per day, for me anyway. Yeah, it sucks waiting for it to kick in, but for me, the extended coverage is worth it.
Now, if you're looking for the best PRN benzo, klonopin would NOT be that. I was RX'd it PRN and that was pointless since it takes so long to kick in. Xanax or Ativan are way better for an as needed basis.

For longer-term treatment, clonozepam has done the trick for me, I became a much more sociable person within a week. The first time I took it, I was laughing my ass off and just wanted to meet new people, which is VERY unlike me, I'm usually very anxious about being around people...
I've gotten a new life, I just hope this sticks when the treatment ends, but maybe that deserves its own topic.

Haven't been given solid diagnoses. I get paranoid / depressive / anxious
Dissociate a few times day, feels like I'm stoned or in a movie...mind goes blank.
Rx: Solian 200mg twice daily (amisulpuride), Cipramil/Citalopram 50mg (depending on avaiability), Clonazepam 2mg
Past Meds: Epilim, lamictal, ritalin
Socially retarded )-:
PS. Please don't tell me to go to the ER, wouldn't do any good where I am :-/

When I was on klonopin I would put the tablet under my tongue and let it dissolve, rather than swallowing it. Works much faster and still had the longer lasting effect.

I just saw this topic.
Pharmacologically speaking, xanax should be fastest.
One of the benzos comes as a melt in your mouth kind of tab that may be faster because you can put it under your tounge and let it be absorbed that way. I forget which it is.

De-gnosis: ADD, recurrent depression (or maybe bpII in the guise of such), Asperger's, OCD, social anxiety
Today's Pill Menu: Dexedrine, Wellbutrin (Budeprion), Topamax, Risperdal, clonazepam

Klonopin wafers. I have not been lucky enough to be RX'd this form of my favorite benzo. That would be great, however, I wonder if it still lasts as long? If anyone knows, feel free to reply to my thread jack.
Sorry about that.
