Not sure if this is the right place for this, so understand if it needs to be moved. I was just put on 2mg of Cogentin b/c my med doc upped my Seroquel to 1000mg. She said this should help keep away side effects and get rid of some I was already having. Don't know if this med has side effects. Didn't think to ask. Just too tired and drained to think straight while there.

I think I'm pretty atypical (aren't I always??? :) ) but cogentin made me wake up 4-5 times a night and sleepwalk for the first time in my life. What made me stop was my knee surgery. I couldn't go down the stairs on my bum knee, and I was always sleepwalking down the stairs on the cogentin. I didn't want to try and walk down the stairs in my sleep and end up falling down them!
Diagnosis: BP I, Generalized Anxiety Disorder
Meds Currently On: Lithium 1200 mg, Topamax 300 mg, Zyprexa 10 mg, Risperdal 2 mg, Prozac 20 mg, Artane 4 mg, Xanax 2mg PRN
Main Problems Right Now: Twitchy legs are back. Too much AAPs and artane isn't fixing it. Gotta decide what I want to do about zyprexa before insurance co quits paying for it.

It has made the dry mouth from abilify even worse. I find I have to take a water bottle to bed, and I end up waking taking drinks several times a night.
Dx: Nov '09 = BPI (years before GAD, '08 PMDD)
Rx: Abilify 15mg, Lamotrigine 100mg

Previous Rx: Zyprexa, Seroquel, Trileptal

Didn't wake up any last night. Dry mouth from hell, but the Seroquel does that to me also, but much worse this morning,.

I take 1.5 mg. of Cogentin every day and it really knocks out the twitches and spasms that I get from the abilify. My only problem with it is that I can't drive for about four hours after taking it; it makes it difficult for me to stay in my lane on the highway.

Does it make you feel drugged? Was trying to figure out yesterday if it was this med or the Seroquel.

Does Cogentin kick in right away or is it something that needs to build up in your bloodstream? I started on 0.5 mg twice a day and feel no difference. I'm still having the involuntary mouth movements and still feel edgy and wound up. I was told that it would help that feeling if the risperdal was the culprit in making me feel anxious. How long should I wait for this stuff to work? Pdoc told me to call her if it doesn't work.
Psych Diagnoses: Major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, alcohol abuse - recent binge drinking.
Meds: Zyprexa 15 mg at bedtime, Lexapro 15 mg a day, Wellbutrin XL 300 mg a day, Synthroid 88 mcg a day, multivitamin 2 x a day, Calcium citrate and D 2000 mg a day, B12 shot monthly, protein 60 gm a day, and Mirena IUD.

Whenever I have taken it, it has worked very quickly and quite effectively (2 mg). It's a relief whenever I take it. (Note: How do I post a new thread on this site? I'm brand new, and I've tried figuring it out but couldn't)
My "issues": Evaluation in progress...
My meds: Pristiq 50 mg, Klonopin 0.5 mg as needed
Past meds: Celexa, Rozerem, Vyvanse, Zoloft, Lexapro, Abilify, Trazodone, Seroquel, Geodon, Anafranil, Saphris, Cogentin, Risperdal
