I currently am experiencing a very bad salty taste in my mouth.  I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to what could be causing it.  I am currently on the following medications:
- Tegretol      800 mg
- Lamictal      250 mg
- Lithobid    300 mg
- Geodon      60 mg
- Flovent          4 inhalations per day

Any help would be appreciated as I am gagging by my own taste.  Usually I just gag with a spoon...sorry for the 80's referrence, I couldn't resist.

I am on 1200mg lithium carbonate SR and had a nasty time last week with the not only the salty taste but the metallic.  I don't know about the other meds, it from my experience, sounds like the Lithobid.  I swear, no matter how much water I drank it took forever to go away.

Thanks for the info.  I just saw my pdoc, and he indicated the same thing.  Although while I was on higher doses, I never had the salty taste.

I am speaking for my daughter, who has had many side effects, on many drugs. She complains of a salty taste in her mouth and even asked that I stop salting her food, which I was not doing. Out of your med list, she was on Lithobid. Hope that helps.

Yep its the Lithobid.

I find the salty taste comes and goes.

You might try adding a little salt to your food for a couple days and see if it changes the effect.    Lithium can cause your body to lose salt.
