A few months ago now i had to stop taking an old school anti psychotic called stelazine as it gave me hell bad side effects which did not stabilise over the first three months so my doctor took me off it.
it was his opinion at the time that i would not be able to go back onto an antipsychotic because the others that would have similar good effects would also come with the side effects which my body could not handle.
Now a few months down the track i am still really missing whatever it was that the antipsychotic was giving me and i want to ask my doctor if i can go back on an antipsychotic med. i know i cant go back on the same one as the side effects DEFINATLY over ruled the positive effects. ie. car crash caused by drowsiness 3months after intial dose.
What i am hoping u could do is through around a few names of antipsychotics that are good for treating paranoia and delusions. in hope that when i see the p-doc i can drop a few names with the hope that something may click and i can get the meds i need to make me better.

Risperdal
Zyprexa
Abilify
Geodon
Seroquel
Solian
Clozaril
Thses are all the new style APs. Everyone responds differently to them but Zyprexa and Risperdal seem to be especially quick and effective in knocking paranoia and hallucinations on the head, they do however cause drowsiness which you mentioned caused you to crash your car. You micht want to try abilify or geodon which cause less drowsiness for some people (not everyone mind you), abilify doeesnt make me sleepy at all. Seroquel is also very sedating as well, solian doesnt make you tired but im not sure if its available in the USA. Clozaril is really last ditch city. Good luck picking your way through this lot!

A couple of years ago I shifted from Stelazine to Seroquel with very good results. I didn't notice much trouble with any change of positive effects. I haven't had any trouble taking Seroquel, aside from the usual complaints about sedation and such, most of those have worn off over time.

I've had good luck with Seroquel (if you can stand sleeping a lot) and Geodon.

Was on Trilifon which is an old AP without many side effects.
"Put me back together or separate the skin from bone Leave me all the pieces, then you can leave me alone Tell me the reality is better than the dream But I found out the hard way - nothing is what it seems (I push my fingers into my) eyes It's the only thing that slowly stops the ache But it's made of all the things I have to take Jesus it never ends, it works it's way inside If the pain goes on, I'm not gonna make it!
