Benzos and Birth Control What does this mean? Rate Topic: -----

I was doing a search for drug interactions and came across some interesting information regarding certain benzos and some birth control pills.  I don't really understand what it means though and was hoping someone might be able to help me.  Here's what it said: 

Oral contraceptives may increase the clearance rate of benzodiazepines that undergo glucuronidation (such as lorazepam, oxazepam, and temazepam). Close observation for signs and symptoms of altered benzodiazepine effect is recommended.

Dx: BPD, OCD and GAD (plus severe endometriosis and hypercorticolism)

Rx: Only clonazepam right now (.25mg 3x/day and 1mg at night), other meds for other conditions
Previous Rx: Paxil (awful, awful, awful), Effexor (somehow even more awful), Ativan, Serax, Librium

It means they clear your system faster than they would otherwise.

Thanks for the clarification :) That's good to know, I wonder if that's why Ativan never seems to work for as long as it's supposed to with me.
