:(   feeling pretty wonky, After gaining 70lbs in 4 years I looked into every imaginable cause and nothin but nothing was figuring out...Till someone pointed out some information on Celexa to me...and suggested that perhaps it was the 40 mg I was taking a day!
Anyhow, I have taken matters into my own hands, and of course informed my doctor(quack) of my decision she just nods and smiles.....ACK! I have read everything I can on this stuff,etc...but need to know...If I cut my meds in half and half again and now cold turkey for 4 days...how long till this gets better?!!!!
Feeling pretty ill.
Thanks.
Leah

Just because some of us can read and write and do a little math, doesn't mean we deserve to conquer the Universe.

Cold turkey can be down right dangerous to your body, mind and mental illness (if present).

I suggest you discuss your plans with your dr, and taper fairly slowly, over a couple of weeks.

You need to think about "what next" once you are off the celexa completely.  How will you feel?  Problems may or may not return.

If weight gain is your only concern then maybe you could look into prozac.

Good luck.
Dx : Schizophrenia, paranoid type with panic attacks.

Rx : 60mg Prozac, 20mg Zyprexa daily, 10mg diazepam PRN.

Ex Rx: Luvox, Paxil, Risperdel, Xanax, Seroquel, Abilify.

Leah,

I'd really like to hear from you, as I'm worried.  Dropping the Lex that fast is going to send you into a deep pit.  I know I get suicidal.  Hoping you don't.

Say something.  Please.

Just because one med causes a side effect doesn't mean that they all will.  You can often switch immediately from one SSRI to another with minimal withdrawal effects. If you don't have major anxiety problems you might want to look at Wellbutrin. Weight gain on it is very rare.

FWIW I've gained 100lbs over the past five years on meds.  Yes, I hate it. I also can not deny the good that it's done me.  Around here we call it the question of sanity vs vanity.  It's not an easy choice sometimes.  After you remember what it's like undedicated you might want to reconsider.

Dropping of as fast as you did, you'll likely feel like shit for a few weeks.

De-gnosis: ADD, recurrent depression (or maybe bpII in the guise of such), Asperger's, OCD, social anxiety
Today's Pill Menu: Dexedrine, Wellbutrin (Budeprion), Topamax, Risperdal, clonazepam
