Hi everybody, I was wondering if there's a difference between a 10mg pill of paxil and a 20mg pill of paxil. My pharmacy ran out of the 10mg pills so they gave me 20’s and told me to cut them in half. Well I gotta say I seem to be a little more sleepy with the half 20’s. So my question is am I just being paranoid or is there chance there’s even a slight difference.

There may be some slight difference in how fast it's released, and it's probably impossible to split it so precisely as to have exactly 10mg in both pieces. However, it seems unlikely that it would be enough to make you more sleepy.

I had a similar thing when I went from samples to actually bottled Lexapro.  I'm not sure what the deal was.  But I could feel the difference.

Splitting pills is lame.  I'd just sit down and split them all at once.  Do you have a pill splitter (a very useful tool).

But, maybe they are getting released faster since that rough side, where it's cut, has a greater surface area?  Dunno.

Paxil always has the same manufacturer right?

Thanks for the quick responses everyone! I went back to the pharmacy and spoke with the pharmacist and she assured me that there was no difference with the pills same manufacturer and everything. I guess I might have been a little paranoid. The 10mg paxil has totally cured my anxiety, so I guess I freaked out at the prospect of losing my little magical pill. But in all fairness the first pill I took caused tingles up and down my arms but the next day with the second dose I felt nothing. All is good crisis averted!
