Effexor has been a great med for me so far and I hope I can stay on it at least awhile longer....but things are looking bleak (depression is rounding the corner...fast) and I am thinking I will have to change or possibly add a knew AD. Oh well, thank you for your help!

Does anyone know of any web sites that are devoted to certain medications...but not the drug company site
. I am on a high dose of effexor xr (600 mg.) and am interested in communicating with others who have experience with as high a dose........and possibly higher ::fingers crossed::.

I used to be on 600mg of Effexor XR as well.
Just curious, why did you make the various jumps up through the dose levels (e.g., I went from the starter pack to 150mg to 225mg to 300mg to 450mg to 600mg)?

I did the starter pack to 300 very quickly...(I was hospitalized:(. I was on the 300 for about 1 1/2 and then started to do 75 mg. increases over the next 3 yrs. My biggest jump was from 450 to 600 about a year and a half ago.
How long were you on the 600? Did you have to add a new AD or were you well enough that the cut back on the effexor? Thank you so much for your reply.

I went up through the various dose levels much more quickly. With each increase, the Effexor worked really well for me, perhaps a bit too well, and then the effect started to fade. When I finally hit 600mg, it pretty much stopped working for me. I had no other ill effects on that high of a dose.
I was at 600mg for about two weeks. I think my pdoc would have been willing to go higher, which now somehow just seems more than a bit insane. Next up on the anti-depressant merry-go-round, I wanted to try Parnate, he wanted to try Cymbalta. He won, and Cymbalta was, for me, a very blah choice.
I just had to fire him at that point. Now, I get to be Bipolar NOS. Your experience seems very different than mine.
I really wish I had some good advice for you. Best of luck with whatever comes next!
