Effexor xp how to orgasim? Rate Topic: -----

I remember reading on the old board that while on effexor xp orgasims were harder to achieve...
but I can't remember what any of you did to 'help' get you there. 
Suggestions?

is effexor xp different from effexor xr?

if you're a female, you just have to want it.  effexor makes my orgasms more intense, and for that i love the med.  but yes, they are harder to achieve, but by far impossible.
dx: BPI, GAD/SAD, PTSD, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, RLS, Panic disorder, some sort of seizure like activity
rx: 600mg Trileptal BID, 150 Effexor XR, 2mg Clonazepam TID

peppermint, you could try an herb called yohimbine, but don't do it if you're bipolor.  it's a stimulant.

dx: severe, refractory double depression. GAD. OCD, paranoia, occasional psychosis.
Depersonalization and anxiety out the wazoo, no matter which meds I take.

current rx: Cymbalta 90mg as of 11/12, Trazodone 400mg as of 4/6/07. Clonazepam .5mg PRN.

Recent Titration: Seroquel 100mg>200mg>now 300mg>back to 200mg as of 11/10,
up to 300mg as of 11/29; up to 400 mg Seroquel as of 1/19/07.
Tapering down on Seroquel and adding Trazodone as of 3/26/07, much to my chagrin.
Now down to zero SQ, up to 400mg Traz. Can't sleep, but my girth is getting smaller.

And now: Stopped Traz. Added Navane. tripped off into some dissociation/psychosis shit. Off Navane. Back on 1,000mg Seroquel. Welcome to my nightmare.


previous rx: Tofranil, Desyrel, Pamelor, Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin,
Neurontin, Luvox, Serzone, Remeron, Effexor, Lexapro. Navane, Ativan, Inderal, Lithium.

I know this sounds crazy, but when I take OTC sleeping pills,
I have no problem climaxing.

I'm on 300mg, XL. Sometimes I will delay taking the Effx for a few hours and just take some Wellbutrin, mostly to make the b/f happy.

I really could care less about sex on Effexor

as a male type being effexor gave me a who gives a shit attitude.Situationally the married life was a sexual vacume at that time and effexor really gave me the feeling of why bother.When sex happened it was fine,but getting there was the tuff part.Great...then you get to be depressed about being shut down sexually.now for some anti depressant sex jokes------ naw i'm new here

Cyprohepatadine is often prescribed with antidepressants to help one be able to achieve an orgasm.

Effexor hasn't seemed to affect my ability to orgasm - just my will to have sex.

When I was on Effexor, I had much more desire for sex, and a BITCH of a time climaxing. We're talking an HOUR to come, if at all. Thank god for a loving and understanding (and incredible stamina-having) husband......
If you're a girl, I say this: buy a vibrator if you don't already have one. If your man/woman has a problem with that, dump the person, keep the vibe.  Anyone threatened by a sex toy has flaws you don't want to deal with anyways, and a vibe lasts as long as you have batteries.
You know, IMHO.  :P

It goes away over time, as your body gets used to the meds, thuoght I'd add that!!!!!!
