  1. How Do You Feel THIS MOMENT in Time?

I’m leaving on Tuesday for my winter residence. It will be good to see snowbirds and senior citizen friends in the desert. No SAD this winter, yay!
  2. It sounds as if you are on some effective medications. What interests you? Do you enjoy exercise, reading, spirituality, religion, music, travel? I find that my interests serve to envelop my mind in meaningful or pleasurable pursuits. Of course I get depressed from time to time, but I never lose hope. Faith has been a big part of my life, prayer can lift our spirits and offer hope for the future.
  3. Cheese can you take your medication after your husband gets home? It would help to have him with you before going to the ER.
  4. How Do You Feel THIS MOMENT in Time?

We served food to 500 homeless people today. So many hungry people coming through the line in need of food. I wish that I had more time to chat with the people that I served, unfortunately the line was so busy that I dealt with people abruptly instead of in a more friendly way. I need to work on the friendliness instead of rushing people. People do appreciate a kind word.
  5. One Hour on the treadmill. Now settle in for two hour country music extravaganza, RFDTV. Small town Saturday night.
  6. Lawrence in Arabia by Scott Anderson. “War, Deceit, Imperial Folly and the making of the Modern Middle East.” Highly engaging account of events leading up to WWI in Europe and the near east. Good read for history buffs or anyone who wants a better understanding of today’s issues.
  7. Yes Iceberg the fioricet is habit forming, I only take 1/2 - 1 tablet fioricet with 25 mg. of doxylamine. I had bronchitis last year, and the ear nose and throat specialist warned me away from the butalbital, but I will have to continue at a low dosage in order to maintain my quality of life.
  8. New Pdoc at V.A. (Med student) immediately took me off of Klonopin after my old script ran out and switched me to 50 mg. seroquel. I was only taking .25mg. Clonazepam before bed as needed (4-5 times per week), but new doc refused to keep me on the controlled substance. I tried the seroquel once, ended up in ER, was offered nothing to calm me in ER. I have not been back to the V.A. since then. I took Phenergan for one year after leaving the V.A. health care system for my sleeping issues. It worked ok for awhile, then I did research & found online consultation for fioricet, now I use fioricet and doxylamine for headaches and sleep.
  9. White coat syndrome

Yes Red, I have just found a sliding scale clinic that serves our homeless community. I will have to pay for my visits, but I’m sure it will be less than a private doctor’s office. I don’t qualify for Medicaid, so the low cost clinic is my best option. Thanks for your reply.
  10. I need a skin cancer screening. I have a small sunburned area that never healed after sun exposure 1 1/2 years ago. Dermatologist will take medical history and question medications that I take. I don’t want to change my medications because I need treatment with the dermatologist. I don’t have health insurance and I don’t want referrals for cholesterol test, blood test that don’t pertain to my skin condition. I worry that once I see the doctor, the bills will start piling up and I will be prescribed meds that I can’t afford and don’t want to take. I have to wait 2 1/2 years for Medicare. I will feel much better about seeing a doctor after Medicare, until then I have constant worry about bills and excessive treatment. I will watch the damaged skin area for the next six months, if I don’t notice any changes then I plan to reevaluate another six months.
  11. Anxiety causing sleep problems

I do take medication to help me sleep. If sleep doesn’t come due to racing thoughts, worry, stress, anxiety, etc. then I will begin counting backwards from 100 in order to focus away from the intrusive thoughts. Sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn’t, but it’s usually worth trying in order to calm my mind.
  12. I have not tried those medications myself Britton777. Hopefully one of them will help you get some rest tonight. Reach out to us again if you want advise before your next doctor visit.
  13. I use fioricet, it contains butalbital (babituarate). I take it for headaches and it invariably puts me to sleep if I take it with an antihistamine. Not sure if your psych doctor would give consent, it is available with an online consultation from several pharmacies.
  14. I hope that you are feeling better today Climber47. I have some ideas for kids lunchbox that are simple and just as easy as chips & cookies. Next time you are at the grocery store stock up on individual raisin boxes, fruit cups (6 packs of plastic cups), individually wrapped cheese wedges or kraft cheese and cracker snacks). You could also add seasoned tuna pouches & plastic forks with crackers. I believe that they also sell hard boiled eggs now in the egg section. You wouldn’t have to prepare anything, but you would have some healthier options on hand to send with your kids for lunch.
  15. Do you have insurance? Can you see another psychiatrist right away? If you can’t see another doctor then yes head to the emergency room.
