KnowingBurns Posted March 30, 2008 Holy Cow - that is one long-assed list!! Yet reading through, I thought of several songs missing for many letters....and promptly forgot them when I clicked on the reply button.
leopard Posted May 2, 2008 I saw this thread and could not resist. "not an addict" by K's Choice is an absolutely seductive, hypnotic song. My pulse quickens just thinking about it. Thank God I am in recovery now. I'm sure it's still on you tube.A song left off the list is "Shooting Stars" by Billy Idol (1992 I think). Again thank god I'm in recovery. Another tune about 'using'. Can't listen to many tunes that I once did.

Velvet Elvis Posted May 3, 2008 One of my favorites right now is "too much month at the end of the xanax" by Tommy Womack
ShadowCat Posted May 3, 2008 One of my favorites right now is "too much month at the end of the xanax" by Tommy Womack Now thats a great song title. Um yeah theres quite a few there, but quite a few missing but then it would go on for 20 pages easily. I've been listening to a lot of Apoptygma Bezerk (electronic/gothic) and it seems about 50% of their songs are about MI. "Paranoia", "skyscraping (schizophreniac)", "mourn", and the song "deep red" has really worrying lyrics etc etc. Makes me wonder if someone in the group is MI, hey 1 in 5, its highly likely. some of the song titles in the list above, ahhh I don't know if really they were written about MI, but then give me any song thats contains references to emotion, addiction, loss, obsession etc, and there you go, you can apply it to the subject. You can always see what you are looking for if you try... hey look up in the sky at those clouds, its a bunnyrabbit! Nice list, thanks for sharing

Überpolarbear Posted May 6, 2008 (edited) they neglected John Frusciante's "Been Insane" (guitarist form red hot chilli peppers) but then again i dont even know whether this was released at all. and he really was insane for some 10 years. i mean totally big time batshit crazy. there are interviews with him at that particular time. no nice videos. LunaRufina Posted August 14, 2008 What about Anna's Song by Silvechair? Isn't it about OCD? Or rather a girl with OCD?
Guest Miranda Posted August 21, 2008 What about Anna's Song by Silvechair? Isn't it about OCD? Or rather a girl with OCD? Definately not. It's about a girl with anorexia.
Artemisia Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) "Try Not to Breathe" by R.E.M.? (Deals with suicide--might be triggering.) Edited August 21, 2008 by Artemisia
LikeMinded Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) I almost forgot to mention that almost anything by the band Papa Roach sounds like the lead singer's talking to his tdoc. Now for Linkin Park, the archetype of 21st century emo and angst... I still can't decide what their newer song "Given Up" is about. It seems to me that it's either about a struggle with MI or that of one with some sort of yet-to-be diagnosed autoimmune or cancerous cardiopulmonary disease. ...and note that one of my majors was in a foreign language, which involved a lot of literature study, so I generally look WAY too much into song lyrics. My penchant for taking things too literally all the time doesn't help, either. * "Mein Teil" by Rammstein Kannibalismus: Denn du bist, was du i Edited August 22, 2008 by herrfous
grousemouse Posted August 23, 2008 i'd be curious to know which band has the most songs on there. oh, and i think i'd add 'upside down' by the jesus and mary chain. they weren't a particularly deep band but i'd say that one is about a mood disorder. it's an awsome song if you're like me and like acoustic feedback. g
LunaRufina Posted August 23, 2008 What about Anna's Song by Silvechair? Isn't it about OCD? Or rather a girl with OCD? Definately not. It's about a girl with anorexia. A sorry B Doesn't it still apply here then?
null0trooper Posted August 23, 2008 Now for Linkin Park, the archetype of 21st century emo and angst... I'm surprised the list didn't include "Breaking the Habit" Addiction is the most pleasant interpretation; suicidal depression seems more appropriate. "Bleed It Out" reminds me of some of the therapy rants I've read
LikeMinded Posted August 23, 2008 I can't believe I forgot "Sumtimes" by Taproot... it really does seem to describe Borderline and/or Bipolar. What I excel in best is my excessiveness Self-deprecation, I hate myself sometimes How can I be down when all that I want is in my reach? (What's wrong with me? Fuck it!) Now for Linkin Park, the archetype of 21st century emo and angst... I'm surprised the list didn't include "Breaking the Habit" Addiction is the most pleasant interpretation; suicidal depression seems more appropriate. "Bleed It Out" reminds me of some of the therapy rants I've read Points very definitely agreed upon. "Nobody's Listening" is a lyrically similar rap by Linkin Park/Mike Shinoda from a few years back, too. Also, "Crawling" seems to describe a case of PTSD of some magnitude... LunaRufina Posted October 8, 2008 "Rocketship" by Guster They'll find it on the stairs politely placed it there been so unkind without a hint or warning sign for them Read my apology. Maddy Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea -- The Cure. "She hangs herself in front of me Slips her dress like a flag to the floor And hands in the sky Surrenders it all..." Jesus or a Gun -- Fuel. "But tell me now, who's my saving one Jesus or a gun" and "Happiness I couldn't hire" Edited October 8, 2008 by Maddy
blackbird Posted November 22, 2008 Hip hop is sadly underrepresented in the list. What about 1-800 Suicide by the Gravediggaz? (very triggery - basically tells you to go ahead and do it). And this magic lyrical rhyme by DMX in 'Fuckin With D': Listed as a manic depressive with extreme paranoia! and dog I got sometin' for ya! hear my name, feel my pain, n*****z wanna steal my fame, but first feel my reign, know what it's like to suffer, never have enough of shit, startin' off hard then only gettin' rougher! tougher, but than came the grease, so if you wanna say peace, tame the beast!.....
AnneMarie Posted November 22, 2008 The Finn Brothers, "The Mood Swinging Man" He's a mood swinging man with his bag of tricks Never know where he's at The life of a party when he's doing his flips A drag when he's flat on his back This town feels empty now he's gone away Please understand Something new to discover everyday The wheels in his hand He takes me up He brings me back down again Flash in the pan Mood swinging man can't pretend Tall dark stranger of the restless kind Shadow of a shadow I'd like to wander through his mind He's hard to get to know He wakes you up in the dead of night To tell you he's in love He can give a heavy sleeper a terrible fright And no one can keep up With the mood swinging man He'll be back down again He lights up He's a flash in the pan Mood swinging man No idea who I am I'm the mood swinging man You know where he's at He will crave your attention still All too familiar Mood swinging man BPD or BP
Velvet Elvis Posted November 22, 2008 The Finn Brothers, "The Mood Swinging Man" What album is that off of? We saw them live a few years ago, after Everyone is Here came out and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. It was a sold out show at a much smaller venue than they usually play. The crowd was mostly music industry insiders and quite respectful. During Don't Dream it's Over you could hear a pin drop. It was electric.
