been doing this to lose weight. Is this sustainable long term?

And no, it isn't sustainable long-term. It causes your metabolism to get all manner of fucked. Your metabolism will start to hold on to whatever it can, for as long as it can, and you'll plateau. You may even gain flab. But you are likely to lose muscle mass, which will look like the scales going down, even as your appearance becomes doughy.
