Told the doc that gabapentin is a problem. She asked why and I said because I abuse it.

She understood and said we will dp a slow wean. I’m thankful I have a doc that doesn’t just cut ppl off of things when their honest.

Can anyone one give me some encouragement on gabapentin withdraws?

I don't know what the withdrawal from gabapentin is like because when I was on it, I was on a low dose and had no withdrawals. I wish you the best of luck though and hope the withdrawal is short and painless. Good job telling and being honest with your doctor!

That's great that you were honest with your pdoc..

And I'm glad that they are not just cutting you off..

I take gabapentin and have recently lowered my dose..was taking 900mgs 3x a day..

I now am down to 600mgs 3x a day..

And haven't noticed any withdrawal effects..

So hopefully it won't be so bad for you..

31 days folks. I hope I look back and say thank you to myself.

My pdoc once recommended gabapentin.  I had never heard of it and for whatever reason I declined and suggested we try something else.  I'm very glad I never got it because I know that once I found out it can be abused I would have.  My pdoc even knows I have a history of drug abuse.  The #1 reason I'm clean is because I don't have easy access to anything and I'm working really hard to keep it that way.
