hi.  i feel that after i take my klonopin at night, i get not only stupid and crazy, but also get depressed.  and im talking as low of a dose as .125mgs cussing.gif above reasons make me not take it during the day/.

anyone get depressed from klonopin?

this is a very common reaction.  i'm sure there are other posts/ threads about this.

for some reason, some people (me included) get depressed on klonopin.  kills the anxiety, but leaves depression in place.

have you tried swithing to another benzo?  valium is another long acting benzo with a simmilarly low addiction profile to klonopin.  i switched to xanax xr which i like.

there are also other meds for anxiety to look into out of the benzo realm, of course.

I thought depression was a relatively common side effect for most (all?) benzos. Definitely talk to your doctor about it. Because, as Penny mentions, there are other treatment options for anxiety (specifically, some SSRIs, which may also deal with the depression).

I tend to get signs of hypomania when I take SSRI's, so my current medications are Lamictal 200mg, Effexor XR 150, and the Klonopin.

Klonpin is making my depression worse.  I used to take 1mg of ativan and had no problem with it.  Probably due to it's short half life.  My current PDOC put me on klonopin in january because I was complaining about increased anxiety.  I asked her to put me back on ativan last month and she said no.  I don't understand why, and she seems to be too busy to explain it to me.  I'm weaning my way off of 2mg of klonopin per day.  I'm down to 1 mg.
I'm changing doc's by the way...

I also have been feeling the Klonopin has been cause for depression.

I had thought before it was my occasional glass of wine or two, but since been sober for several months can not be that.

So I have been cutting my 1 mg in half at bedtime, and never taking 1 during day even prior,  for past couple weeks.
But, anxiety has come over me, it just seem such a choice.

Try to flow over the anxiety, hope does not grow worse.

Or, take the whole Klonopin at bedtime, and feel so depressed next day.

My doctor does not seem to want to talk about other options either, ever since I first went and told how Xanax, and Ativan way back after brothers deaths made me feel too aware of when they left my system.

Sometimes it feels when we tell maybe too much, and maybe was situational, doctors hold us to it for life.

I've gone back to taking half or all of 25mg of Seroquel at night.  It works well.  I'm not going to be on Klonopin any more.

That is one med that has been brought up to me, and with my sleep problems too.

I believe I will give that a try.

Does it cause you day time depression at all?

Do you know what is lowest best dose to begin at?

I am afraid of the drunken feeling I heard some complain of in morning.
But, as can see I so need to fall a sleep.  And I do not want anything that causes any depression, why I will not drink at all.

I have a very touchy system and I know it, and so not worth it.

Thanks if can give me any help with questions, so appreciated.

I do know doctors are just so quick to hand out and say oh well it might make you feel like crap.
Crap to us, can be real hell at times.
