I have been diagnosed with panic disorder. I have been taking xanax on an as needed basis (.25mg), and have had success with this (in fact feeling better than ever). I only take the stuff when i need it which is usually on a very busy day and sometimes at night to help sleep.
Here is my concern:
-I have been taking these for 6 months now and am a bit afraid of not getting a refill px.
+Any ideas on what to expect???
+Suggestions greatly appreciated.

I've been on benzo's for anxiety for years... I think about 10 yrs, so I don't think you need to be worried, as long as you're not abusing them, ie. taking more than what's prescribed.

+Thanks... I have been dealing with anxiety for years, and finally feel "normal", but have been worried about no longer having this to help.
Thanks again

Manny sounds like you are doing alright. You want to use the smallest dose, as little as necessary. You are only using 0.25mg and the highest suggested dosage is 4mg! So as long as you don't abuse it you should be fine. If your panic/anxiety were to worsen your doc would probably add an SSRI, like Paxil, for example.
Glad you are doing better.

Like others have said i personally don't think you have anything to worry about. I've been on a benzo for about 2 years, taken regularily. When you take it on as needed basis you don't build up the tolerance that fast. Besides the tolerance thing might just be a myth because i've been on clonazepam for a long time and it's still doing its job.

Iv been on benzo's for roughly 10 years (im 23 now) and have gained the nickname of BenzoQueen by a few people!
Just be careful as from personal experience you often end up having to take more and mroe to acheive what initaly a small dose would give.

-Thank you Lea. I meet with my pdoc in about 3 weeks, and the advice helps. I had a PCP that would not give me a benzo, (even after seeking therapy and all). Since then I tend to think of my pdoc as similar to the ordinary Physician.
Thanks again.

My family doctor didn't have a problem prescribing me medication he's comfortable with. I asked him for clonazepam increase, and he did it. You have to understand that here in Canada you have to wait like half a year for a pdoc appointment. They're free but you gotta wait a looooong time.
