Just curious here. I have been on Xanax now for almost a year and am curious about how long others have been taking their benzo.

Year and a half on 1 mg Xanax XR. Dropped to .5 mg a couple of weeks ago.

over 15 years on a rotation of everything- ativan, klonopin, xanax-even valium way back when.

Xanax for 6mos, then Klonopin for a year and a half.

klonopin - about 7 years steady, and took it off and on before that.

sorry - could not get the pm reply to work. anyway i had been suffering from the most horrible anxiety imaginable. back then pdoc's were the tdocs mostly and you had to get sent to a special pdoc who just focused on meds. took way too long for that to happen i think, but once i got to a pdoc- we started slow with a little xanax which was the drug of the moment- i got relief but the anxiety was so constant that we switched to klonopin because it stays in your system longer. turned out once the anxiety was more controlled that i was actually very depressed and so started my med-go-round. anyway- the thing is that you need to have both a tdoc and a pdoc to get the most thorough treatment.
