Has anyone gone from Ativan to Valium? I'm switching because Ativan is so short acting and runs out on me when I take it three times a day. Did you find 1mg = 5mg? Do you take Valium 2x or 3x a day? The doc said to try 3x and I will do that. I'm trying to keep a steady dose 24 hrs. (Klonopin makes me irritable for some reason.)

I switched from xanax to valium. Similar but not exactly the same. I was taking 3 x 1mg xanax/day. That would equate to 3x2mg atvian.

An equivalent dose would probably be 5-10mg. Due to the longer half life you might find yourself taking higher doses less frequently - eg 10mg 2x per day.

Your dr should be able to give you good advice on this one.

Pdoc said 5mg 3x a day. I'm hoping that will be enough. Some say 5mg = 1mg Ativan and some say 10mg = 1mg. I bet it's between 6mg and 9mg.
