A different kind of grief

Recommended Posts

Is it okay to grieve someone who isn't dead, but isn't in your life anymore? Isn't what you thought he was? I've grieving a five-year relationship with someone who called himself my best friend, who ultimately didn't care about me as much as himself. I don't know what to do with it. I don't know where to put it, or how to process it. But I'm grieving. Deeply. Can anyone relate? Is there anything you can say to help me?

I can relate. My former best friend of 9 years pretty much just up and left me high and dry and has hardly any contact with me anymore but didn’t even tell me our friendship is over.

The best thing you can do for your own sanity is try to accept the apology you never got and to understand that the way they treated you is reflective of their own character, not of you. You did nothing to deserve this.

Im sorry people suck and that he treated you like that. You deserve better.

thank you. The worst part may be toggling back and forth between blaming him and second guessing myself and thinking I caused the whole thing. And then back and forth and back and forth. And just feeling like I really wasn't that important to him at all, even when I thought I was.
