  1. Eep! It looks like the new Radiohead album is going to be available to download in the next fifteen minutes. *swoon*

My husband downloaded it yesterday and we listened to it once.  He plans to buy it on vinyl when it's released in that format.

What do you think of it?

  2. For those of us on Medicare who want to change our part D provider: Monday December 7th is the deadline.

  3. I live on the Island of Misfit Dog Toys.

Every now and then my dog Joe poops something with stripes, and I experience a moment of pure panic until I realize he's eaten the arm or leg off of one of his toys again.

  4. We had a Canadian ham, onion, and garlic pizza, and it was AMAZING!

Oops, I guess that is Canadian bacon. Silly American.

  5. Not a good day. Panic attack this afternoon. Now migraine. Probably not surprising the one followed the other.

  6. I love my new Kindle Paperwhite. It is *so* easy on the eyes, I can read much smaller print than usual. And I got a cool pink silicone skin, so I don't lose it; black would be impossible to find if I put it down for a few days.

awesome! i love ebooks, its so helpful to be able to adjust the text size and brightness etc

  7. I had an alice in wonderland aura yesterday morning, and I've been sick ever since. Headache fades in and out, but the other symptoms; it's actually been pretty bad.

  8. I just looked at my kidney x-rays, and there are absolutely no calcifications, for the first time since November 2013!

So awesome. It reminds me of a few months ago when I found out my fatty liver had reversed itself.

Mal, that is amazing, I didn't even know that could happen! Congratulations, if that is a proper use of the word.

Thanks, crtclms! I lost some weight and went off some meds and it's all good now!

I don't. What about the seeds?

    2. crtclms

      crtclms

The seeds are supposed to be poisonous. Not very, but poisonous. To be honest, with the big dog, I just let him eat them. With the small dog, I figure it takes less to be dangerous, so I pick them out for her.

  11. I got my hair cut, it looks cute! But I'm not going to take a picture until I wash it and do it how I'm going to do it (i.e., no blow-drying)

  12. I posted the spoon theory on Facebook. A friend from high school told me she had bad diabetes, so that she used that theory, too. She was captain of the field hockey, basketball and softball teams when I knew her. I was shocked.

Someone posted it here a long time ago. But it showed up on Facebook last night, so I shared it.

  13. I just discovered DH hates the Beatles. Shandah!

      Gearhead

My husband hates the Beatles, too.

  14. Just started reading the "Diary of Anne Frank, The Definitive Edition." I read the one edited by Otto Frank when I was a child, and then read a more complete version. This one includes entries that were misplaced, and other entries about her sexuality. I know she died before I was born, but I just love her.

  15. My husband and I went on our first date 15 years ago. We were engaged less than 10 months later.

  16. Dinner came out well. I'm not spending that long on it every day, that's all I'm saying.

  17. Yay! I was afraid that our Breville mini oven had stopped working, but I just cooked a crustless quiche, and it came out perfectly! That means roast sage and prosciutto wrapped pork tenderloin tomorrow!

That's what I said. The quiche was perfect and fluffy, but was weak sauce flavor-wise, probably not going to repeat that recipe.

    3. Gearhead

      Gearhead

I don't know what a Breville mini oven is-what I pictured was a Duncan Hines Easy-bake oven. A sure sign the Percoset is kicking in for the evening.

It's microwave sized, and is kind of like an upscale toaster oven. It has a convection setting I'm afraid to try. We use it to make everything. I could have pan fried the tenderloin, but I had meat to make shiskabobs with, and wasn't sure how I was going to handle that without an oven.

  18. Working on my *30th* anniverary report for my college, Harvard. So as you can guess, I better not misplace a single comma. Summing up the last 5 years is kind of crazy, and I can't believe we have made it through. Disappointing not to have a more exciting life to report, as stuck-up as that sounds. But Conan O'Brien and Princess Masako were in my class.

We lived in the same dorm for a semester, and he was just a super nice, friendly, hysterically funny guy. You couldn't have a conversation with him where you didn't end up laughing. Ungainly, and the first one to point it out. Then his best friend fell in love with my roommate. The problem was everyone fell in love with my roommate. So Danny pined morosely and hopelessly for her, and visited frequently with Conan in tow. Conan was one of the nicest people I met in college, I was furio...

I was furious when Leno fucked him over.

  19. I'm doing so well I'm planning meals ahead of time. Between migraines and the crazy, I haven't done that for years. Just pasta tonight, but tomorrow either a pork tenderloin, or a crustless quiche.

  20. Happy Darwin Day! And happy Darwin the dog's birthday! We chose it, no known birthdate. And he is probably closer to 13 months. But dammit, this is Darwin Day!

I've been to Darwin. It's a nice city. Kind of dusty and down to earth. But it is surrounded by bush, so the dust isn't surprising.

  21. This three course meal brought to you by Latuda. Ask your doctor (and be prepared to pay through the nose).

  22. What did I have for lunch? Green Terra Grilled Sandwich - mushrooms and cilantro spread, shredded carrots, cucumbers, letuce, Thai peanut sauce and Provolone cheese. Dessert was lavendar rosemary shortbread. Lunch was the bomb.

  24. I use our new rice cooker to make steel cut oatmeal more than to make rice. Mmm, some is steaming right now.

    1. cosima

      cosima

how long does it take in the rice cooker? what do you put in your oatmeal?

    2. crtclms

      crtclms

To be honest, I don't know how long it takes, I just put in the water and oats, and wait for the alarm to off. About 20 minutes is my guess, which is faster than on the stove. I like half and half and maple syrup in mine, but fruit is good, too.

    3. crtclms

Oh, and I stir it, and let it set on warm for 15 minutes, to distribute the starch better.

  25. I had a sax revelation. I kept trying to do the traditional embouchure, and the remembered that I have an open bite that braces can't correct. So I had adapted my embouchure to compensate. Since I remembered that, I have been whizzing through sax exercises. What a relief, I was going insane trying to figure out what was wrong.
