  2. Hi CBers, So one of the things on my to-do list today is to make a list of self-care or self-soothing things I can refer to when I'm going batshit. I have a couple already, like sit in the sun, buy a plant, etc, etc, but, I was wondering which activities you do to make yourself feel better. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Alice

  4. I won't get into specific activities, but I do have a particular method for when I'm actively attempting to self-soothe. I believe it's important to indulge each sense simultaneously. So out of the suggestions, pick one for smell, taste, touch, sight, and sound to completely occupy all senses at once. To me, that's what takes self-soothing to the next level.

  9. The US version of Shameless has the most accurate portrayal of BP that I've seen yet. But generally, I agree with you.
  10. Abilify definitely caused me to gain weight, but due to the improvements of my mood, I just decided to live with it. I plan on starting a diet and exercise routine after the holiday hype dies down... I really hope it helps.
  11. I'm currently on Lithium, Abilify, Prozac, and Xanax. Ive never had my hormones tested, I've just always assumed it was part of the bipolar. Thats what I was afraid of -- the unorthodox solution. The "self-service" doesn't seem to satisfy my needs, and the local friend will make me feel unfaithful. I'm in between a rock and a hard place.
  12. Hi CB-- So I'm currently in a loving, committed long term relationship, although we do live a couple hours away at the moment. It seems I get very hypersexual around this time of year. My question is, how do you keep it in check or cope? I feel like I'm on the verge of being reckless, and its terrifying me. Any help appreciated, Alice

  14. Hi CB -- I'm having a really rocky mixed state and it's making me fucking nauseous. I want to vomit all the time, but never do. Does this happen to anyone else? I suppose it could be a combination of my anxiety, but it feels like its coming from the mixed agitation. Please share your experiences. --Alice
  15. Hi thunder -- I suffer from both skin picking and hair pulling. One suggestion is to keep the hands busy. Some use video games, I knit and I crochet. BUT there is a promising amino acid that you can order online called NAC (or N-acetylcysteine) and its been shown to help with impulse control disorders like dermotillimania and trichotillimania. It's not a fix all. You still have to work at it, but it makes it much, much easier. A lot of my life I've had bald spots, and now, thanks to NAC, I have a full head of hair.
