  1. My c.b.t therapist gave me a booklet entitled "Healthy Coping Strategies" It's been put together using free downloads from www.get.gg I hope this can be of some help to others.
  2. I'm a ruminater, thanks to my anxiety and depression but I've also been taking part in one to one c.b.t since November. It hasn't been easy especially when I've had to go outside my comfort zone, but IMO it is well worth it. I'm not saying c.b.t will work for everyone, but I do believe it is worth a go if you are given the chance. My life has greatly improved from where it was.
  3. I saw the psych nurse for the assessment but he felt that I wasn't depressed enough to warrant a year of therapy on the NHS. The fact that I'm no longer actively suicidal or self harming means I'm not as much of a priority for therapy as people who are self harming etc. However I have found a local, private but reasonably priced group of therapists so I'm going to look into contacting them in the new year.

  7. I've had a similar problem. I live in the UK so I have to rely on the NHS for my(free)health care. I have a pdoc that I see every few months and it was only after I bugged him about referring me for weekly one to one therapy(which the NHS cannot afford)that he agreed to send me a referral for group therapy. The point I'm trying to make is, bug the people at the county centre to get you more therapy, even if it's only group. Try to explain that meds alone will not heal you, you need to talk as well. After all the longer you are "unwell" the longer you will need the services of the county centre, make that point very strongly. It's how I got my pdoc to refer me.   13. My doctor gave me a print out of some info about I.B.S, so I'd thought I'd scan the info for those who may be new to the subject.
  14. Thank you AirMarshall. I know it's not easy to reply when there is so little info for you to go on but I really needed to ask someone before I became to wrapped up in my questions over my thoughts. I've got an assessment for group therapy coming up, maybe I'll work up the courage to tell them about it....
