  1. Yes that is definitely a symptom of OCD. The fact that your mother had OCD indicates that you had a 'possibility' of becoming Obsessive-Compulsive yourself because of 1. The genetic factor and 2. From observing your mother.
  2. You say your counting etc doesn't bother you. So what happens if it is an even number of cars? Do you get agitated? Upset? Just laugh it off? Do you have to do things a certain way to stop bad things from happening? I'm an even number counter. It was more severe when I was little but I do find myself counting things every now and then. I would start by counting 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 etc then progress to counting in evens 2 4 6 8 10 etc One thing I would always count when little was this lottery game that would come on the T.V every weeknight. There are 20 numbers that would be called out and between the last number being called and the end of the show I would have to quickly count all the 20 numbers. They never changed the amount of numbers called, yet there I was, every weeknight counting 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20. I also make up things if I get a certain outcome. A prime example for me is when walking down the street I will set myself the goal of walking past something (a letterbox, a crack in the pavement) before a car drives past it. I usually say to myself "If I reach that letterbox before that car then
