maybe this is a long shot, but I was just wondering if anyone here had narcolepsy or its "twin", idiopathic Hypersomnia. most people have some idea of what narcolepsy is - IH is somewhat similar, possibly rarer, a disease where you never feel awake and you can sleep for 40 hours at a time. It's hell. I'm unsure of which one I have - I may have both. Luckily, I'm on non-stimulant meds that really work for them. Theyre atypical med choices, not well known at all, but they work! just wondering how other people with MI deal with severe sleep disorders like narcolepsy and IH. it certainly makes things interesting for me.
I've had some weird hypersomnia-esque thing ever since I was a preteen. I don't know where it came from, but it's been bothering me my whole life. Hey, I just thought I was a really tired teenager with a fucked up sleep schedule. I was, but, you know, I thought it was normal. Recently, my p-doc saw that I had an issue and referred me to a sleep specialist, and I went and saw him, did a sleep study (twice because the first time i didn't sleep enough because I forgot my tylenol PM) and I went back to see him yesterday. Turns out I have very mild sleep apnea, I'm talkin incredibly mild, and the weird hypersomnia shit is still there. So, I was perscribed Nuvigil. Now, I'm wondering, what should I expect out of this drug? I'd like some experiences, and apparently it's not going to react with my mood disorder, or rather it's less likely to do so, which makes it ideal, says my doctor. Talk to me!
