  1. Plain Ambien puts me out okay, but I wake up after four or five hours. Ambien CR didn't seem to do any better for me, although I was taking a generic, and based on the varying quality of different Ambien generics, maybe I had a crappy generic version and a different one or name brand Ambien CR would work. While trying various sleep meds, the pdoc prescribed Trazadone, which didn't seem to help much, either. Is anyone on a combo of Trazadone and Ambien (or some other combo) that works? I would like to have some new ideas to ask my pdoc about as I think my current depressive episode would be just about gone if I could get a good night's rest.
  2. So I am in quite a nasty situation. Over 3 months ago I was able to kick my addiction to heroin with therapy and Suboxone. Also, I successfully got my bipolar II under control with Lithium ER 900mg and Seroquel XR 300mg. For the last 6 weeks I am having fragmented sleep. I am able to fall asleep relatively easily only to wakeup after 2hrs. I then go back to sleep and from then on I wake up roughly 5 times a night. I've eliminated all caffeine from diet, I don't smoke cigarettes within 2hrs of bed and I don't watch TV or use any other screen before retiring. My addiction specialist has tried me on trazadone 150mg--did nothing Doxepin 75-150mg--only makes me sleeoy Ambien CR (w/ doxepin)--barely any change. I think it slightly improves the quality of sleep in between waking up. Does anyone have any recommendations for a sleep maintenance medication? I prone to rapid weight gain from AP's and dont want to double up as I am taking quetiapine already. For what it's worth....my sleep hygiene is very good. I've started exercising in the morning before work. I work as a credit analyst and sit in front of a computer from 9 to 5. HOWEVER...my insomnia is causing me to nod off at my desk which is unacceptable. Any tips/ideas/recommendatins are welcome. Mikl_pls I'm looking your way as you are the resident amateur psychopharmacologist. ;-)
  3. Please help me figure out the right Med combo.. Since starting some of these meds I feel fear not my usual anxiety just flat out fear over nothing. I also have a nauseas stomach EVERY day. I feel stuck and lost since I'm no doc but maybe somebody will know what to do! I am desperately trying to find a medication that completely cures my anxiety like Xanax but still gives me focus and energy like Adderall I take both, but adderall heightens my anxiety at times, makes me cry sometimes for no apparent reason and occasionally I'm told makes me testy. It gives me focus and energy.. The Xanax alone makes me very calm, collected, and FINALLY quiets my fast moving thoughts and anxiety however it gives me absolutely zero energy or motivation. I am perscribed daily: 40mg of Paxil aka Peroxotine (I take at night) 70mg Adderall daily (30mg extened release /40mg amphetone salt tabs) 50mg Trazadone (nightly) UNPERSCRIBED MEDICATION Hydrocodone either 7.5mg or 10mg roughly 6 a day for knee and back pain I suffer with debilitating anxiety over seemingly tedious tasks.. Highly unmotivated feel almost frozen sometimes. so I take roughly 4/5 .25mg Xanax a day when possible or 4/5 1 mg Ada van throughout the day as well as night. Xanax and adderall work well I guess but I really feel like its Mesing up my stomach somehow. Lastly I've heard a lot of things about Paxil is it dangerous? I have no sex drive upset stomachs etc please help!!
  4. Hello! Erectile, libido, and orgasm disorders are very common when taking SSRI or SSNI drugs. This reduces quality of life, and can cause secondary depression. I wish to find a way to manage my psychological ailments, while retaining normal sexual function. Background: I have anxiety disorder and mild depression. My first SSRI/SSNI was Cymbalta. It worked very well. However, after a few years, I realized I had erectile dysfunction. I am no longer on Cymbalta. Why is there hope? There is anecdotal evidence from various sources, which state at least limited success with various drugs, herbal supplements, or combinations of both. For example, Wellbutrin is reported to ease depression symptoms without causing ED (erectile dysfunction). Plan: I intend to try various solutions, and report success or failure in this thread. Also, everyone is more than welcome to post their own experiences, both male and female. (While women don't suffer from 'ED', they do experience delayed orgasm, no orgasm, and reduced libido). Baseline: I am currently on 10MG of Brintellix. This is the highest dose I have found that keeps me from experiencing ED. Note: This is a "half dose". The usual Brintellix dose is 20MG. Because I am on a half-dose, my anxiety/depression feels "half managed". I need something more to fully treat my psychological conditions. This is the purpose of adding supplementary drugs or herbs to my regimen. Methodology: I will try various substances, in combination with the baseline dose of Brintellix. I will weigh 'morning erections' more heavily than other erections, to rule out the possibility of psychological issues affecting ED. (This concept is supported by my Psychiatrist). Tried so far: For ED: Horny Goat Weed Viagra (This of course works very well for ED. It is also insanely expensive, it requires pre-planning because it takes at least 30 minutes to work, and it can wear off in as little as four hours.) For Depression/Anxiety: Magnesium Currently Trying: For ED: Yohimbe (Click for Wikipedia article) L-arginine & Pycnogenol (Click for clinical study) Exercise For ED & Depression/Anxiety: Trazodone (Click for clinical study) I am very tired right now, so I will fill in more information tomorrow about the things I have tried, and the things I am currently on.
