dancesintherain
I'm seeking out help for describing something to my pdoc. The words I have aren't sufficient. I'm trying to describe what zyprexa seems to do for my brain. The first word that comes to mind for me is "quiet." But it's not quiet in the sense of absence of hallucinations or absence of intrusive thoughts (though that happens, it's more due to fanapt because I was still having them when I was just on zyprexa). It's something else. For anyone who takes an antipsychotic who has this brain settling effect, can you describe what it is? @confused did a good job, but I'm just looking for more ideas. It's particularly important because zyprexa is causing some weight gain, so I need to be able to fight her impulse to take it away.
jarn
For me I got the lack of agitation/peace with loxapine. It's calming. I know what you mean but can't find a good work for it either.
MiaB
Levelling? As in, it levels your mind?
DogMan
are you describing (the problem) Disorganised Thought? making the fix "more organised thought"?
dancesintherain
it's probably a combination of the mood leveling and thought organizing...which might be why I appreciate it. it does the work of both.

Wonderful.Cheese
@dancesintherain “Brain glue” (?) I heard someone say that about antipsychotics in a psych ward once and I’ll never forget it.
CrazyRedhead
"Stabilizing" ? I think that's a word that a medical professional would understand. Edited January 18, 2022 by CrazyRedhead
