Unregistered
Anyone know if it's OK to split 10mg Zyprexa tablets? My pdoc wants me to taper off and just use it prn. He said it was OK to do, but when I did one last night, it looks like it has an enteric coating which means it is meant to pass through the stomach before being absorbed (i.e. stomach acids wipe it out before you get any benefit). Velvet Elvis
Nothing about about enteric at rxlist so it should be OK, particularly if you doc said it was.
Squirlygrl
I did it without side effects or screwy dosage effects (i.e., 1.25 felt like less than 2.5, etc.) best wishes, sg
Batou
I've done it. Could never get pills split exactly in half, thrids, fourths, what have you, but no problem just took what looked to be the right percentage of the original pill.

myevilme
My pdoc has me split my zyprexa. He gives me 20mg pills and has me chop them in half. I haven't noticed any difference between the split pills and the regular 10mg ones I used to take. Saves me a bundle on meds. He actually does that with all my meds, I feel lucky with this one. Anyway, according to my pdoc you're free to split away. Hope things work well for ya.
