Hey Folks,

Is it true that the girl that killed herself in the Cymbalta trial was a perfectly healthy person with no issues and that days after being taken off C that she hung herself?

From what I have read it seems that C has had many more suicides during trials then other AD's?

I am just wondering because the mighty doc says I have to start next week for ocd &/or ACD with some wonderful GAD.

How aboot the liver stuff?  Big deal or no deal?

java script:emoticon(' ;) ')

I was reading this:

http://www.ahrp.org/infomail/04/02/12.php

It is also in many other legitimate news sources. Normally I would have been thinking a bit sketchy on it, but this was a big story and there were 6 or more others that did this during the trial. From what I have read this is alot higher then other med trials. ;)

Dear Montyface:

I'm sure the people of the Alliance for Human Research Protection are conscientious, caring folk.

Nonetheless, this is not a scientific/medical organization. If you read that whole story, they're giving anecdotal evidence about the girl who committed suicide. I didn't see any scientific proof of anything in that article.

What's more, I would tend to believe research put out in the Journal of the American Medical Association or published by one of our major research universities than this type of "she was a happy girl and now she's dead" kind of story.

If you're frightened of Cymbalta, don't go on it. There are lots of other antidepressants out there to choose from, and others may be better suited to your situation. When I was on Cymbalta, I was more worried about the potential for tears in the retina than I was about suicide risk.

If you read the numerous posts about Cymbalta, you will see that it is an effective AD for many of the CB folk. It worked great for me, and then it pooped out. Pretty typical, from what everyone around here is reporting. It is also weight-neutral, which is important to a lot of folks.

Good luck

thx - wondering about effexor as opposed to the cymbalta? I have tried all the ssri's with 0 luck. thinking of giving lexapro another shot because my biggest problem is being freaking tired from this stuff, the motivation and lethargic feelings so many other folk on this board have from ssris and of course with anxiety the docs arent anxious to add in stuff like wellbutrin or something.

yeah about that detached retina, I was gonna post about that. What is the real deal on that? Can you actually go blind? Wonder if effexor is actually the med with less side effects?
