lachesis
Hello to CB. Lachesis is the name I am using for myself to represent the firery mess I've created by being MI. Lachesis is one of three sisters in Greek mythology. It was believed that a persons fate was decided at birth by these three old sisters. They were spinners of fate that no-one could interfere with, not even any of the GODs. Lachesis is responsible for the length of ones life. Another place where you will hear of Lachesis is in homeopathy. Lachesis is a homeopathic remedy for snake venom . Now I do not advocate that as a remedy for mental health issues, but the people and illnesses who are to benefit from it are strong and intense. Now that describes how my illness has been at it's worst in the past. More about all of this later, if you are interested. For now I am stable. They put the concepts into words I can understand. Anyway, hello and, again, welcome. S9
grousemouse
hi lachesis, and welcome to the boards. yes, cool name and blurb on mythology. i've always quite liked hindu gods and mythology myself. when i was younger it was greek mythology, but since i've discovered curry my interest has reawakened in hinduism. so you're stable? cool. i am helped hugely by meds but am not overwhelmingly stable. i have MDD and seroquel has helped me hugely along with the dreaded effexor. welcome to the boards. there are a lot of amazing people here. join the bunch. grouse. AirMarshall
Hi Lachesis, Welcome! Well, thanks for a new tidbit of mythology. I hadn't heard of the three sisters of fate. Cheers, a.m.
Millie_O
Isn't Lachesis the one with the scales? The one who's always trying to make things equal and balanced? I didn't know she was in charge of the length of life, though it makes sense if she's into measuring things that she'd measure life as well. Isn't she supposed to represent things that happened in the past? So the length of your life was determined in the past then, huh? Anyway - hi - welcome to crazyland. No snake bites here. lachesis
Hi everyone. I'd like be in control of a family member's fate right now. My sister was ambulanced to the ICU just in time last night. I am thankful for that AND for psych meds that work so well at present AND for crazy boards to be up and running. Wow what a start to the week. She is so lucky to be here after being so irresponsible with her life. She was playing with fate and now we shall wait to see what happens. Will the GODS be on her side this time? Drinking and driving sucks.
Millie_O
Wow. Was she drinking and driving or did she get hit by someone who was drinking and driving? That's terrifying. I hope she's ok. A whole bunch of wonky prayers worked pretty well for me yesterday so I'll just pass them right along to you and your sister. Millie
InfoNut
lachesis, I truly hope your sister is alright. We have all done stupid things. The consequences of stupidity shouldn't be death. As a Bipolar who has serious problems with doing stupid shit while manic, I'd deserve to be dead many times over. As you said... firey messes. I'm glad you found our little patch of bizzare. Stability is a wonderful thing, isn't it? Stick around a while... there's some really neat people wandering aimlessly around here. InfoNut
ncc1701
Heya lachesis, Nice to meet you. That's very hard to handle, your sister. We're here, and I'm glad we can help, by being all wackos together. --ncc--
