Guest montyface
I have been on effexor for a few weeks and hate it. Not to bad of side effects like feeling lousy, but gained a few pds already, hands shake like f'g crazy and get hot at night. It there a way to get rid of the tired, unmotivated feeling of ssri's like zoloft, lexapro, hit norepinephrine if needed, but without effexor or cymbalta? Is there a combo that will do that? but not add to anxiety? I take it for anxiety, ocd (just obsessing about stuff, worry, think all the time, etc.) and I do have some attention issues, focus problems, sort of get bored easily, etc, but I don't know if that is the anxiety, obsession shit or what. any ideas folks? Thx in advance for all your fabulous replies.

Serotonin is the "like I could give a fuck" transmitter, exhaustion and demotivation are its (PG-rated) trademarks. Cymbalta and Effexor are the relatively side-effect-free ways of balancing the two and hoping to get close to that razors' edge you're asking for. The first idea is to give the Effexor time to stabilize in your system. There are other ways of attempting the balance between opposite transmitters, but they usually favor one side or the other. Which bothers you MORE - feeling tired and unmotivated, or anxiety? Those ways also can come with serious side-effects. Which are you more comfortable with - your current side effects list, or the possibility of seizure, addiction, and/or death?
Guest montyface
that is an interesting thought. so what about the weight gain, can anything counter that? what is it that would cause the death, anxiety, addiction that you mention? Velvet Elvis
what is it that would cause the death, anxiety, addiction that you mention? I'm not sure if he's referring to cocaine or meth.

Guest montyface
I am not doing anything but effexor right now and hope to change that to lexapro or maybe zoloft, then figure out what to do about the tired shit that I get from them later. Never done coke, meth, or any drugs ever except a lot of pot years back. what is it that would cause the death, anxiety, addiction that you mention? I'm not sure if he's referring to cocaine or meth.
