juzzy
Hey guys + grrls... I'm finding it difficult to get to sleep and my naturopath has given me some Valerian/Passion Flower pills. I did some research on the net and read that Passion Flower is a mild MAOI. I know it's bad to combine an MAOI with an SSRI and i'm just wondering if anyone can tell me that they've tried passion flower whilst on an SSRI? ~nestling~
valerian can be a depressant. I have taken both that and passiflora, but not together with an SSRI.

Juz Last I checked, Passion Flower is thought to be a weak MAOI, and it has a few oddball tryptamines mixed in as well. Assuming that it is, you might get some increased NA/DA retention as well as increased serotonin retention (increasing the SSRI's effects). I can't see a lot of harm to it - unless you use a LOT of it - but I don't see it helping to overcome SSRI-induced insomnia. Valerian on the other hand ...
