So, the nurse practitioner told me that Seroquel messes with metabolism of carbohydrates, e.g. sugar and flour. I've been trying to watch intake of said items, and for whatever reason, I dropped 5 lbs of the 12 lbs I had gained on Seroquel.

Then, yesterday, I made the mistake of buying a 12pack of Coke because it was on sale. I drank 3 Cokes yesterday and I had a big Club Sandwich for lunch. For "supper" I had some Chex Mix. Basically all bad stuff. Then, whammo, I got on the scale this morning, and i had gained 8 lbs over night. I am totally friggin serious. +8 lbs since yesterday.

Has anybody else had such weird stuff happen?

I'd be interested to hear if you kept the full 8 on after today...sometimes salt in a meal can make us keep quite a bit of water....

With that, my Seroquel made me gain 7 pounds in 9 days and 3 and a half of them went on in one day and they stayed! Yikes! They did come off later, but it was a shock to see such a jump in one day.

Weight gain and meds is the pits.

Argh! Nothing worse than looking down at the scale and seeing a weight gain of 8 pounds overnight. But CC is right, salt/water retention could be responsible. Although it's hard for me not to want to get on the scale every day, weighing yourself every day isn't the best indicator. Better to do so once a week and get a better idea of average weight and to see if/how much Seroquel is a factor. If you have a day when you want to eat or drink whatever, well try to let yourself do it and not guilt yourself out over it. Sure, the weight thing sucks but I think it is better to let yourself/your body have what it wants every once in a while, easier than trying to deny yourelf some foods/drinks all the time that is hard to do.

BTW, I've lost some weight since beginning Seroquel. Took a little time a month or two for my body to adjust, but I've lost some pounds which had been hanging around from some previous meds.
