I am on 75mg of effexor going on about 6 weeks or so, not feeling awful or great, just about the same if I wasn't taking anything. MAYBE a bit less anxious sometimes but in general around the same, however sometimes it seems to make me feel a bit more anxious? Does that sound normal? My hand shaky crap I got from prozac still pops up here or there, more so if I use my albuterol or have caffeine. But it isn't as bad. I think I gained a couple pds at first on the effex but I am working on controlling my hunger more and also trying to get more walking and yard work exercise in.

I think I need to go up in my dose as the 75mg is not helping much with anxiety, the ocd type crap, my shity memory - losing stuff, forgetting why I went into a room, the adhd type symptoms I have.

The only positive thing so far is it is NOT making me tired like the zoloft, lexapro, prozac, or other ssri's. Sometimes it winds me up a bit but that anxious type feeling like I get when I have an anxiety attack isn't there. However, I still get the anxiety attacks if that makes sense. So about my normal energy with a very small dwindle in the anxiety feeling. So I want more of the energy feeling, less of the anxiety and obsessive thinking. Got anything for that??

I've been on effexor for 9 weeks now and am currently at 225 mg. I've noticed no side-effects, but I do feel more awake than I did on lexapro. I feel much better now, but I attribute that to my lamictal more than the effexor.

Effexor 75mg is pretty much a starter dose. It's not an SSRI, but rather an MRI, because it addresses multiple neurotransmitters. Up to 225mg, it mainly works on Serotonin. from 225mg to around 300mg, it begins to work on Norepinephrine. Above that, you get into the Dopamine action. If other SSRIs don't cut the mustard for you, then Serotonin might not be your culprit.

You mention several symptoms including anxiety, ocd, and ADD-related symptoms, but you don't actually mention depression as a problem. If you're not depressed, I'm somewhat confused by your prescription.

I think I need to go up in my dose as the 75mg is not helping much with anxiety, the ocd type crap, my shity memory - losing stuff, forgetting why I went into a room, the adhd type symptoms I have.

The reason your Effexor is not helping in these areas is that it's not an ADHD med. It isn't intended to treat those problems. It's for depression.

Be sure to mention all of your comments to your pdoc, so he or she can evaluate the results so far.
