debster
Hello Everyone: My Pharmasist could not tell me when I brought my presciption in, if I was on the original, more expencive Celexa or the new Generic brand. So I got the generic! Now I don't think it is working! Is there a difference? Should I go back on the "real thing"? Or is this...as usual...me just freaking out? Thanks all that respond to this question. deb
username
I'm in the UK, and the generics have worked very well for me so far. But I can't answer your question. Sorry.
Velvet Elvis
It should be close enough. How long have you been on it?
debster
It should be close enough. How long have you been on it? Thanks for replying Velvet Elvis: I've been on it for 10 days now, but I was on Lexipro for about a month when I went back to Celexa the generic one. Lexapro didn't seem to be working. Celexa was always worked so well for me. Now it doesn't seem to be working either! I usually get a responce in usually four days. That's why I was thinking I should go back to the original Celexa. My doctor say's that there is no difference. In four weeks I will be going up on the dose, hopefully, if I don't improve. I am also taking 50mg of Seriquil to help me along, so I have been told. Four about six years I have been going on and off my med.'s figuring I could succeed on my own. I wasn't a looser! But now just when I have found a wonderful doctor and want to stay on the med.'s to get, hopefully, completly better the Celexa is not working!!!!!! I just though the generic Celexa maybe the problem. I also realise this problem can also be from my on off use. Damn! Why do I have to learn the hard way! I'm holding on and also using a Bit of Ativan to get me over the morning hell feelings. Again, thanks a lot Velvet Elvis deb
cache-monkey
I've read in various places that generics can be less effective than trade versions of psych meds. It could be that you need a higher dose of citalopram than Celexa. Might be worth exploring. Also, 4 days is exceptionally quick. For whatever reason, it might be that you just need a little more time to respond this time around. Good luck and stick with it! ~cache-monkey

It is so easy to get freaked out about these things! Just nice to have words of encouragement! deb
cache-monkey
Deb, no worries. I know how anxiety can make the process (and uncertainty) of med adjustment that much more overwhelming. I'll be crossing my fingers for you. ~cache-monkey
debster
Hello cach-monkey: Well, today I went to the drug store and got the brand name Celexa! I know I wimped out, but I just couldn't get the worry out of my mind! Surprisingly the pharmasist agreed with me. I was quite shocked! I figured that she would be scoffing at me, but she says that some people just do better with the name brand. Only one way to find out is to try it. If I don't do better on this name brand Celexa I will continue with my generic brand withwhich I have about two weeks left. If this Celexa works then the generic goes in the garbage! Thanks for all your support and I will let you know if it works! deb
chimpmaster
I havent been on celexa, but I have been on luvox, paxil and now prozac. Ive found that the generics have all been equally as aeffective and pretty much the same. The only drug I have found to be different is valium. The real thing seems a tiny bit stronger to me than the generics.

If it's 10 mg of Ativan, I suggest finding a quiet place and curling up; that much will zonk you. (And definitely avoid driving...) Laughing so hard I think I'm going to pee myself! I really should run up stairs and see what the dose is...really, but it must be much less. 'Cause I am still standing. You know finding a quiet place to curl up in sounds so inviting! Thanks cache-monkey for the laugh and the concern. I just found it funny and it probably wasn't suppost to be. I will say ever since I took it I have been feeling pretty chatty! Everyone seems to be on today and I'm reading and such. Pleasent surprise when someone responds. I'm glad it is not Valium. My mom lived on it, but she called it "Nerve Pill's". I think she still does. I better go. deb Okay...since I was up stairs I checked and I am on 0.25mg's of...the fandangled name is clonazepam. My doc told me it was just a longer lasting than the last one I was on, which he said was Ativan. So ya, it is a way smaller dose. Someday's I feel that I just wish it was 10 mg's. deb again. cache-monkey
Glad to hear it's a nice low dose of clonazepam (=generic Klonopin), which does last a lot longer in your system than Ativan. And it's got to be nice to get a bit of relief from the crippling anxiety. Hope you enjoyed your day! Best, cache-monkey

Best, cache-monkey Sorry cach-monkey for the other day. I don't know what got into me. The next day it was back to the anxiety again. The info. about the Klonopin is very helpful. You certainly know a lot about med.'s. I had a bad start to the day, but then the ball started to role and I could hardly keep up. I only had a short time to worry about things. Or maybe my med.'s are starting to work? Before I know it I will be a pro at medication too. Anyway, nice talking to you! deb
cache-monkey
Don't sweat it, debster. I hope it's the celexa kicking back in! ~cache-monkey
