drzoidberg
I'm in Chicago and would like to find someone for therapy, preferably CBT (or anything really). My pdoc told me to ask my gp for a recommendation, but Im not sure if I want to do that for a couple reasons.
Libby
I know this sounds obvious, but google it.
AirMarshall
Your....pdoc.....couldn't.....make.....any.....recommendation....for...a....therapist. Bizarre. The one doctor that I expect to have a list of reliable and competent therapists is a pdoc, if he has been in practice more than a couple years. I don't know why you wouldn't disclose your psych problems to your Gp. I wouldn't expect him to be knowledgeable about psych, but he should know what your dx and rx's are, and generally how you are doing. Try asking the pdoc's receptionist for the names of some therapists that they commonly deal with. Similarly try asking some nurses. They know all the dirt on doctors and can tell you who the good (and bad) ones are. That's how I found my pdoc. Good luck. a.m.
