Boz-pot
At the moment I'm taking Zyprexa as it helped bring me down from my last manic episode a couple of weeks ago. I only take 2.5mg a day and I think it's a temporary med before probably starting lithium. Anyway, my point is - I seem to be craving salty/veg stock type things. I have a great love of condiments anyway, but since taking Zyprexa I have noticed I want to eat marmite (vegemite) and also vegetable bouillon powder - in large quantities. I've always liked them but could never eat a lot of marmite at once as it was too strong. Now I'll happily tuck in with a spoon, eating it neat, as it were. Is it the salt or am I deficient in vitamin B12? - this is added to marmite. Anyone else experienced this, or is it just me? Any ideas?
Velvet Elvis
I have no idea. Most people eat sugar out of the box.

Dweii
I just know I had cravings for EVERYTHING when I was on Zyprexa.
blackbird
I get cravings for Pepsi Max and other soft drinks on Zyprexa, my mouth is as parched as an Arabian desert
Unregistered
The phrase you're looking for, Blackbird, is "dry as an Arab's flip-flop," I think. I never really had much of a sweet tooth, but I found I was marginally more interested in sweet stuff on Z, but only marginally. Having said that, I could not lose weight on it whatever I did. I've taken a six week holiday from it, and the weight is now coming off, but only as a result of brutal gym work.
Loon-A-TiK
on zyprexa, i lived for dairy queen. nothing would make my day more than a nice ice cream treat. and even though i was unemployed and living off of money from my grandparents, i made it a priority every day to eat DQ and lots of chocolate. needless to say, i gained weight, which i had to diet and work off. but i can't tell you how badly i wanted DQ. it was an obsession. and there's a gourmet ice cream shop up the street from me- yummmmmmmmm when i could afford it, i'd go there overall, i spent a lot of money getting fat (well, not fat, just fatter than i was). i couldn't get enough. i guess your cravings are just for different things. but i think zyprexa makes us crave stuff. blackbird
The only way I can deal with my gigantic appetite is to permanently remain on the Atkins Diet And my kidneys aren't liking that! "Dry as an Arab's flip flop" - nice one Unregistered! Blackbird, I'd read that Atkins does tend to create kidney problems. Have you considered a low GI type of diet? I don't think it's the total answer but it does make some sense to me. There are a lot of sites that talk about it but I bought a book about it this weekend thinking that it might warrant a try. Spanophile
I'm on Lamictal and Cymbalta (for the time being) and I've noticed that I'm ALWAYS hungry. I know that Lamictal is supposed to be weight neutral and maybe it's just the combination of the two, but I've definitely gained weight. I ate 5 big Xmas cookies in one sitting yesterday and I was still hungry. I'm having other issues with the two as well (aggitation, hypomania, etc.) so I'm thinking Topomax might help stabilize me and make me lose some weight!
