My (New) Neighbors Suck

when i got out of college, i thought that i'd get to live in the real world where people live real lives and don't have to party all the time. i was wrong.

actually, i have to say that this is the only building i've ever lived in where i've had problem neighbors. but all of them have been problems. there's me, the quiet one down here, and them, the party animals.

when will they shut up already? i can hear TVs, music, walking, singing along with music, general noise- from everywhere upstairs. the whole place is full of noise.

i feel like i live on the floor of the new york stock exchange.

'Down here' as in the basement? I think, then, that it's pretty general as to what your hearing. But I have to agree with you, the last place I lived in was a basement apartment, and you could hear EVERYTHING. It didn't help much that the people above us were raging alcoholics. Not that an occational drunken ramble or two isen't quite entertaining. If your REALLY having a problem with it, like, it's seriously affecting your daily life, then I would maybe suggest talking to your building's supervisor? Maybe arrange some sort of noise-level-curfew thing. If that's not at all an option, then you may want to try constantly wearing earplugs. If worse comes to worse, i'd snatch up the classifieds. Good luck.

colorblind- i live on the 1st floor. we have no basement (thankfully, or i'd probably be living there, like i did in college). i'll see how they behave after this initial period of getting used to their new digs. if it continues, then i'll take your suggestion and we'll have a consultation with the building manager.

sunshine- you're a lucky one! my neighbors in college were the absolute worst ever, followed by the drug addict who used to live upstairs, who is gone thankfully!
