Marat
I thought Abilify was supposed to be stimulating. I've been drowsy since starting it, even though I'm now only up to 15mg. Those of you who take it, do you find it stimulating or sedative?
Squirlygrl
Sedating, but only mildly, unlike Zyprexa. It's harder to get out of bed than it once was, but once I'm going, I'm okay. I take 10 mg. Good luck, SG
Loon-A-TiK
i found it to be stimulating in a bad way- it put me into a bitchy mixed episode. not a good drug choce for me- even though my pnurse thought it was the best thing since sliced bread and wanted me to take it. i just had to refuse. blackbird
I found it quite stimulating but then I'm a freak who gets stimulated by Zyprexa
chimpmaster
I found it quite stimulating but then I'm a freak who gets stimulated by Zyprexa Im taking it in conjunction with seroquel and I find it to be activating and reduces appetite. In theory though, it is still an AAP, which means its a major tranquilizer, which means it should be sedating to some degree.
unipolarbear
I found it to be stimulating at 20mg. It was kindofa crawling in my skin jitteryness. Not very pleasant. 10mg seems to do the rick for me but ymmv.
Marat
Thanks for the replies everyone. I was hoping for something stimulating, but I'm happy with it in every other way. It does work for what I'm taking it for, and for that I'm most grateful.
Sophia85
I have to take abilify at night becuase I find it to be too sedating if I take it during the day.
LunaRufina
When I was on a lower dose- 10 and 15 mg, I didn't find it stimulating in an energy sense, but I did have some shaking or tremors. Now that I'm at a higher dose, 20 mg, I'm definately feeling some sedation. It isn't intolerable, but I would like to improve upon it. I've noticed a difference between 15 and 20mg, though now I take it twice a day. LR
reba6465
I take it in the am 30 mg and don't feel anything. Except I am more stable.
HazelBLK
It has been mildly stimulating for me but if I take Ativan it seems to make me more drowsy than it would other wise. I've only been on Abilify for a couple of months at 10MG in the morning so I can't tell if the agitation is ongoing from a bit of hypo mania I was experiencing before that but I prefer the Abilify to Risperdal as the side effects are negligible and I don't get so hungry.
