My pdoc let me try Concerta again!

After about an hour of she and I looking through her journals to find out the causes of my psychotic episodes, it was clear that Concerta wasn't the only culprit. There have been so many other factors surrounding these periods, the residues of a marijuana induced psychosis, lack of sleep, being on a too low antipyschotic dose... Now Ritalin treated me really badly. On the second day of that I OD'd. But Concerta always seemed to be milder and I never had psychotic problems with it when other specific factors were not involved. Also, my BP has been relatively stable since May.

So she agreed to let me try a small dose, 18 mg for three days and then going up to 36 mg. Sure, I was on 90 mg before but it should help some.

We'll have phone contact if I start feeling weird. We also talked about Geodon possibly "blocking" Concerta and she said it would to some extent, but that she had other patients on Concerta and Geodon and it had some effect.

I really needed this. I've been overwhelmed with school and life recently and been feeling more ADHD than usual. Hehe.

I guess I just wanted to share somewhere, real life people tend to get bored of medication talk quickly... ;)

Bring on the medication talk!

Thats great that you are able to try another trial of concerta. You're one of the lucky ones. My Pdoc refuses to put me on ANY stimulants because of psychosis, which sucks balls for me, the loser with ADHD.

I hope you do well on this trial, and hopefully it will help (you know, WITHOUT the psychosis). My best of luck to you Helena!

Seems to be going ok so far. Now I'm up to 36 mg a day, divided in two doses. Nothing weird going on. Slight improvement in focus and I may be a bit more awake during the day, but since it's been the weekend and I've been up late I can't really tell.

I guess school tomorrow will prove if it's working or not.

Ok, not sure if I have any interested readers here but...

I went to school today and I got a lot of things done. Managed to listen to the teacher pretty much all of the time. I was tired, as usual, but "only" took a 15 minute nap. It was a major improvement.

Maybe some more anxiety, but nothing unmanageable. But that could also be from my fucked up personal life lately.

So far, so good. Jusqu'ici tout va bien.

i'm interested, being also an ADD person and on an antipsychotic/stim combo.

my dose of aderrall is too low for it to compete with the risperdal, so today i put in a phone call to my pdoc to see if we should increase it. i hope so, because there's been zero improvement...

i'm glad it's doing something for you. even if it only meets half way, it is better than nothing. feeling better is the important part!
