ativan as a supplement , as needed

Recommended Posts

Mostly anything can trigger an anxiety cycle, from stress to heartache it seems for me this is as good as it is going to get. Is atavan a good pill to take once things start to go to haywire and the ole brain is cross wired?

What the, ahhh,

It really depends on your level of anxiety. Are these anxiety attacks? Or panic attacks? Are you on other meds? If so it might be helpful to know what they are.

Are you in therapy?

There are so many variables. But yes, for an anxiety attack, Ativan is a good "middle of the road" benzo.

Tdoc suggested looking into picking up a benzo for these anxiety attacks a few months ago, thanks for asking,I was just wondering about this at this point as I expect much inner turmoil on the business front.

Without the lexapro this would be unbearable. I hope that I can just take one step at a time in a major

transition that will be happening in the coming year and NOT worry too many what ifs and all of the etc.

I feel confident now which is good and have made some decisions but always second guess them to death.

I feel somewhat overwhelmed and will make a new tdoc appt tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me.

Sounds like you are planning on them as a "helper in your pocket". Something to keep you kinda level till the storm passes. Ativan is good for that. I have taken it, but it turned out that it wasn't strong enough.

As a benzo, this one will come on fast, but won't last a long time. Just what you might need.

Good luck!

I had such a bad true attack last night, I am lost with this terminology, panic vs just being insane vs so dang worried that everything breaks down inside. But soon after I posted every worry hit me. I sad there with my head inn my hands for 30 minutes then went to bed. I woke up at 3am with a serve splitting headache

and could not sleep. This was a headache that I have not had for a year since a prolong period of stress which lead to depression. SO knowing my sig other has some ativan I took a pill and soon feel sound asleep and woke up feeling great. All of my previous worries somehow found a way out.

Work was calm for me and the day was pleasant even setting some new courses in action.

I am without doubt seeing a dr for a script. to add and keep in my pocket.

see ya, breeze, hope you are doing ok too.

many of us take ativan, or some other benzo, as a prn, or an "as needed" drug. i happen to take klonopin (one that is strong and lasts 6-8 hours at a time) in the morning and evening, but many don't have a schedule for it like i do.

do what your pdoc recommends and what works for you. maybe ativan is the right benzo, and maybe not. be open minded about alternative benzos. there are several that you may find helpful.

i use the generic ativan -- lorazepam, and for me it is a wonderful way to stop the attack even once i am in the middle of it, all hyperventilating and such. i have heard and found to be true that placing it under your tongue to dissolve gets it into your system and provides relief much more quickly.

for me klonopin was too strong, and made me feel stoned, even on a tiny dose, but .5 - 1mg is a perfect way to stop the tidal wave ... for me.

YMMV and all that. Good luck.
