Loon-A-TiK
hiya- as you can see in my signature, i take a few different medications. my question is- do i ever need to have blood work done to check the levels of any of these drugs in my body? my pdoc has never mentioned anything about any blood work, but i've heard others of you say that you had your lamictal or your risperdal or whatever checked. i was wondering if i should or if i have to. thanks loon
null0trooper
No standard checks for Wellbutrin or Adderall. You can buy a urinalysis kit from the drugstore that will pick up amphetamine use, but unless it gives calibrated numbers I'm not sure it's going to tell you anything useful. synthetic
Lamictal doesn't need to be tested for itself, but my pdoc tested for the potential side effects. I can't remember what all he tested for, but I'm pretty sure liver and cholesterol were in there.
Dee
To put my mind at ease, I asked my GP to run every possible blood test known to man. If you have to pay for it, you might just want to check the basics. I asked for prolactin as well.
dan
Regular stuff that evryone should have is more important on meds... Have your blood sugar checked at least yearly, cholesterol, thyroid all becomes a bigger potential problem at higher risk
